There's some high cloud this morning, which might take the edge off the sun on your outdoor activities before today's high of 30 degrees is hit! It'll be above 30 degrees for the next few days and there's a 30% threat of showers and thunderstorms!!

The last of the Summer concert series is on Thursday with the J.B's and Vinyl Ritchie; there's a guided Bat Walk at the Library tonight; and The Lost Lake Toad migration means the Access road is closed.

It's obviously dusty and dry: Top of the world was closed yesterday (and will be reassessed today; and our township fire danger is at Extreme) and there's some smoke and haze on the horizon towards the Stein valley. The Slow Food Cycle is in Pemby on Sunday ^_^

Crankworx is in full swing!! Tonight is Deep Summer; The Pump Track Challenge tomorrow; Dirt Diaries on Thursday; The Whip-off World Champs on Friday; Joyride on Saturday and of course, the Canadian Open downhill on Sunday! A 30% chance of showers tomorrow will be very welcome I'm sure though!

The High note trail is open but Peak chair doesn't crack until 11am and is often delayed, fyi.

Despite the much needed rain on Wednesday: a campfire ban came into effect yesterday until October 28th (unless rescinded prior to that date). Crankworx starts today!!! Huzzah. Lot 2 will be closed but lots 6 and 7 will be open with Excalibur Gondola operating between 10am and 7pm! There's a mandatory portage in effect on the River of Golden Dreams from the Fish weir to avoid the canal section. And it'll be 30+ degrees again come Sunday for a few days.

The 11th annual Flagstop Theatre and Arts Festival is well underway; Crankworx is around the corner (5th); and I'm feeling optimistic after last week's snow melt about Alpine hiking and biking. How about you?

Feelin' hot hot hot? My bike ride home circa 10pm last night was gorgeous but day time temperatures can effect you quickly. Please check in on others and look for symptoms of heat stroke <3

I hope you're staying cool - BC Long weekend is gonna be a roaster (yesterday was 35.9 degrees) but let's hope some precipitation arrives with the forecast cooler temperatures next week to reduce our wildfire hazard! Thinking of those working in our community without AC!

There's a heatwave this week: take care of yourself to stay cool and hydrated and check in on those who are vulnerable in our community and for signs of heat stroke in others.

The RoGD is prime right now: although the short section after the portage to the 19 mile creek entrance is already getting quite shallow in spots.

He shares an update on the challenges and recent successes of Whistler's Off Road Cycling Association; prepares us for potential disappointment if the snowline doesn't recede rapidly; and stresses the importance of memberships for our local trail network and it's maintenance by their dedicated staff.
