I never had that victim mentality, but I never had a victor mentality.” Some of us go through life just being there. Not even necessarily being, as in being our best selves, but simply just being “another cog in the wheel”. We may feel useless, or feel like a loser waiting for life to happen to us. Possibly not feeling like a victim, but also not taking any action to become who we might just have the potential to become. Today’s guest, Jonathan Darling, did not want to live the rest of his life in this mindset.
I’ve decided not to live in my own fears of what I believe I can do.” Almost a year ago, Jonathan took a leap to participate in Thom Shae’s 24 hour challenge. In this challenge, participants would embark on a hike in South Carolina for a mentally tough 24hr walk. Jonathan took this experience to push his own limits. Half way through, however, his was ready to quit. To take his shirt and walk away. Then, it hit him, he had the choice to stay, he had the choice to push through. As the sun rose around 6am, cresting over the mountain, Jonathan felt his mindset and purpose shift. He opened up to the idea of living his purpose.
When you engage your heart and truly care, you can find purpose and be a catalyst of change.” As Darling opens his speaking career, he finds himself truly passionate about leadership and motivation. Implementing life lessons he continues to learn, Jonathan seeks to continue to grow and spread his own message. He embraces the process of learning new ways to engage his heart and help others see their own potential. Truly embracing and making positivity louder, Jonathan Darling is a positive impact planted in this world.
