  • Integrating holistic health and nurse coaching with Taylor Byrer

Taylor Byrer is a holistic nurse coach and owner of Byrer Integrative Wellness . She is a former ICU nurse who after suffering from burnout for years, shifted to travel nurse and finally left the ICU to be a post surgical recovery nurse in an attempt to try to escape chronic stress and physical dysfunction in her body.

She was forced to take a step back and truly listen to her body. During the process of healing herself through many different modalities, Taylor discovered integrative wellness coaching. Her background and experience as an ICU nurse, journey of self healing and her passion for serving others has given her a unique perspective and mission  of advocacy for her clients helping them  become their own best advocate.

  • 3 Social media skills NO ONE needs (and are crippling your business)

Top 3 things I learned from Social media (that will cripple your business.)

Social media is supposedly THE tool to use for connection and organic growth and yet is simultaneously one of the most inauthentic and unsafe spaces in our culture today. What skills do you need to use social media as a tool while still showing up as the unique unfettered individual that you are? And how do you do that with getting canceled?

I’d like to thank my coaches Jeni Barcelos and Sandy Connery of Hey Marvelous and the And she spoke podcast for the inspiration for this topic.  They got me thinking about what I had learned over the last few years from social media. What value had I gotten from it?

I have had a love hate relationship with social media from day one but when you are looking to scale an online business it seems like a necessary evil. I’ve learned some things over the last 4 years though that have given me a little less anxiety and a whole lot more backbone when it comes to using social media as a tool. I’d like to share some of those things with you  including 3 specific social media marketing skills that no one needs no matter what business you’re in.

How to use AI with integrity

    Setting your professional AI boundaries

Are you hearing a lot about AI? I am. It seems every other story in the online business has to do with new AI tools. Either how this new tool will revolutionize your business or how it’s the beginning of the end of free thought and creativity. No matter what camp you fall into, AI technology is here to stay and you might want to set some intentional professional boundaries around how or why or if you are going to use it.

  • Interpreting chronic pain science with Colleen Jorgensen

There are so many frustrating things about health and wellness information. As fitness professionals and coaches we watch for the latest information and do our best to curate and explain it to our clients and students. As consumers of that information it can be so confusing to try to understand what the latest science actually means for our day to day lives. For a topic as complex as chronic pain that becomes even more challenging. On the one hand it’s great to get new science, new understanding about the body and nervous system so we can make the best choices in care. On the other hand, what does that mean for what we knew before? Does it all go out the window? How do we integrate new understanding of pain care science in meaningful ways and share it when it comes to posture, alignment and movement therapy?

My friend Colleen Jorgensen reached out to me a few weeks ago with this question as a topic for the podcast. And I thought it was a really great idea. I love bringing clarity to topics like this and I always learn so much from Colleen.

She’s been on the podcast before.  We have talked about chronic pain, the nervous system, pain care aware language and the importance of professional communication skills. She is an osteopath, yoga & pilates instructor and a teacher trainer with a specialty in Pain Care Aware language.

She’s the one I trust to help translate some of this new information. I’m so happy to have Colleen back on the podcast to talk more about this topic and I think in the course of the conversation you find new ways to evaluate other areas of health and wellness science.

Let’s start our work IN with Colleen Jorgensen

  • Hypervigilant helicopter parenting: How to land that bird and reconnect with your kids

What I’d like to highlight in today’s episode has to do with how our hypervigilant state of protection prevents us from emotionally connecting and bonding with the people who we are trying to protect. Especially our kids but this also applies to pretty much any relationship.

  • Surviving complex trauma & domestic violence with heart with Agape Garcia
What we’re talking about today is real world resilience. And we need that more than anything else because the truth is that there’s no way to completely avoid trauma. In the past if you lived through a traumatic event or overcame a traumatic childhood and were able to be successful you were considered lucky because not everyone does. So the question is what sets us apart when it comes to how we handle stress injuries and trauma. How do we tap into our own post traumatic growth. And how can we get a handle on the triggers that are so often left behind.

Some of the topics we’ll touch on may be difficult to hear and so this is your opportunity to set your boundaries.

My guest today is Agape Garcia  Agape is a Post Traumatic Growth Strategist, a Whole Life Coach and an Energy Consult Certified High Performance Coach

She has a tenacious attitude towards empowering others. Over the past 35 years she has navigated through domestic violence, privacy, safety, vulnerability, and the mindset to endure personal adverse events in life. Her survival of a double attempted homicide while 8 months pregnant (by the father) and the desperation to survive became the catalyst to the foundation of BYIS while achieving an undisputed outlook of independence. Agape’s personal journey of post traumatic growth has led to dedicating her life in developing transformational programs, various forms of coaching, certification courses and establishing a nonprofit to help real time victims with real time resources. Her commitment is to provide lifelong transformational habits that can restore your powerful internal sense of awareness and control. One of her personal statements, ‘You don’t live anywhere but, in your head,’ is why some of her laser focus teachings are on aligning your mental and emotional belief system.

  • The myth of safe spaces

Humans seek safety. It is the driving need behind almost everything we do. It’s why we take certain jobs, why we stay in certain relationships, why we choose to live in one neighborhood over another.

What is a safe space? These days a common farewell born out of the pandemic is “Stay safe”. That term gets thrown around a lot these days and it seems to be accompanied by a lot of eye rolling. Probably because anyone who has lived in the real world for any length of time knows that safety is an illusion. No one can really guarantee safety. What feels safe for one person can be threatening for another. What feels safe in one moment can quickly change in the next. Sometimes it seems like people intentionally choose high risk or scary things. Maybe because whatever that risk is, it's either worth it or that they’ve become so familiar with it that it no longer feels like fear. The only true safe space exists inside each of us where we have 100% control over the environment.

Today I’d like to share some of the tools that I use on a regular basis to self regulate the day to day exposure to stress, anxiety and uncertainty that are 100% within your control.
