  • Australia's Indigenous artefact repatriation program has a long way to go
    In 1948, a team of Americans and Australians travelled throughout the Northern Territory, collecting data and artefacts. But on a visit to one remote Aboriginal community in Arnhem Land, the scientific mission they also robbed graves. The bones were finally returned from the Smithsonian Institute in Washington DC in 2011. But experts say there are still thousands of remains and sacred objects still to be repatriated.
