If you were listening last week about the story of Tamar, that's what we were talking about, last week, doing a little bit of Bible study, learning more about, the prominent people in the Bible. and yes, it was a rough story to digest and [00:01:00] swallow, but thanks for coming back.

On our second week of the new Bible character series, we will talk about the tragic story of Tamar, the daughter of King David. We discuss the other supporting characters in the story that contributed to the rape of Tamar by her half-brother, Amnon. Does Tamar get any justice? Why is sexual sin so evil? [00:00:57] they had the, PGA tour, [00:01:00] going on this week as well, and then the week before was Barrett Jackson Auto Show, so it wreaks havoc on our traffic here, but hopefully by tomorrow everybody will be going back home and will be a little bit easier of a commute to work.

[00:01:23] Now, today we're continuing our series on prominent people of the Bible, particularly ones that have suffered some abuse or trauma. The Bible has a lot to say about abuse. Most people don't know that. And so we're going to explore these people's lives, and I am going to be totally honest with you.

[00:01:45] Some stories in the Bible do not have a happy ending. The Bible records the stories as they are without any kind of editing. Some are very graphic and some [00:02:00] are not as graphic,

We are starting a new series about notable people in the bible, namely those who have suffered abuse. This week we will explore the story of the woman at the well. We'll dive into the culture, history, geography, and glorious truths that are part of this story. Why was this conversation between Jesus and the woman at the well so extraordinary? [00:00:29] Hi, everybody. Welcome. It is an honor to have you with me today. As we travel this journey together, healing from our trauma, our abuse.

[00:00:44] and maybe some other things. I hope that you enjoyed the podcast last week on healthy coping strategies. Did you try any of those? I know that I was in my garden this [00:01:00] morning just doing my pruning and watering and just cleaning up a little bit. We just had some cold weather where we had to cover up the plants, frost warning and so to speak.

[00:01:15] But now it is starting to warm up a little bit and I'm looking forward to the flowers all blooming and my vegetable garden, getting more heat loving vegetables.

[00:01:31] I do have tomato plants out there growing under the greenhouse, but they seem to really like the hot weather more than the cold weather. And I got some rose bushes. Now I have killed every rose we have ever owned. And I would say probably 20 rose bushes, they've all died. And there were several years that I [00:02:00] didn't buy any rose bushes. And it was,

We are talking about healthy coping strategies (that are not binge shopping, overeating or drinking too much) for when you are healing. I talk about several different ideas that you can try that will soothe your nervous system and raise your happy hormones. Give one of these a try!

[00:00:53] I'm gonna talk a little bit briefly about some of the other guys that I met [00:01:00] on these dating websites. Not gonna go into as much detail as the first episode, but I am going to go over detail a guy that I had dated that I really cared for and liked, and I thought that this would be a good person to have an ongoing relationship with.

[00:01:22] But that didn't work out.

[00:01:24] How has your week been going? I mentioned last time that Brian and I have COVID. I am fine. I had tested again this morning, and I am negative for COVID, thankfully, so I can go out and do stuff instead of staying at home. Please pray for Brian. He is still doing poorly. Last night he had a high fever and I was a little bit nervous, but it did go back down [00:02:00] this morning. Because of his

[00:02:02] immune system, he has a harder time fighting any kind of viruses or illnesses. So,

We're talking about dating after divorce and abusive relationships. How do I start dating again? How long should I wait? What about those dating apps? What are some red flags? EP 117 Dating Trainwrecks Part 1

[00:00:34] Hello everyone. Welcome. I hope that you are well. Everybody, we have joined the club. Brian and I are sick with Covid this week. We have dodged Covid for the last two years. In fact, we haven't been sick with either a cold or a [00:01:00] flu or anything else in the last two years, and unfortunately we have it now.

[00:01:08] So I'm gonna tell you a little bit about our experience. If you don't wanna hear about our experience with Covid, go ahead and fast forward five minutes. But I started feeling some symptoms at work at my temp job. And everybody around me is sick and it's a very small office and we're all jammed in there like sardines, and it's warm. There's not a whole lot of circulation. And there's not a whole lot of cleaning products like in the lunchroom.

[00:01:41] There aren't any Clorox wipes to wipe off the table you were sitting at or wipe the sink area near the microwave. And I knew when I went in there that I'm gonna get sick. My previous temp job, I went [00:02:00] into the office and everything was very spread out. It was very airy. There was airflow, air conditioning, and there was plenty of cleaning products.

[00:02:10] If you touched a surface, you were required to wipe it down.

We have a fantastic story of redemption for you today with my guest Steven Snook. He candidly tells of his abusive upbringing, him selling drugs at an early age, and winding up in prison, particularly in solitary confinement. God had big plans for Steven after he was born again, and he led many others to Christ in prison. He now has a thriving ministry and business after he was finally released. Steven is an incredible storyteller, and you will be so encouraged and inspired by his testimony! Don't miss it.

Biography:

I spent 19 years in federal prison for a non-violent drug crime. I got saved and born again in 2003 and received the baptism in the Holy Spirit in 2004. I was a minister of the gospel in prisons all across America. In 2017, I spent 377 days in solitary confinement, in intense prayer and fasting. During that time The Lord revealed Himself in many signs and wonders. Many inmates were born again during that time. Since my release from prison in Feb. 2022, I created a business based on a dream I received from God, I've been a guest lecturer at multiple colleges including Bradley University, and am driven to spread the gospel and tell my story of redemption. I have been on many podcasts recently including Jody Burkeen's, "Man Up God's Way", as well as Dr. Joe Martin's, "Real Men Connect". Both of which have tens of thousands of followers.

[00:00:29] Diana Winkler: Hey everybody. Welcome back to the show. Come on in. How's life treating you?

[00:00:35] I wanted to ask if you had any prayer requests, because I feel that's important.

Kimberly's lived experience exceeds most people's imagination. She has lived through and survived multiple traumas including rape, narcissistic abuse, emotional abuse, trauma,  MST, PTSD, Addiction and alcoholism. Not only did she survive it, she advocates for other women and veterans who are still suffering. Kimberly was in active addiction for over a decade including in and out of jail, rehabs and psychiatric units but now Is a Certified Peer Support Specialist for the Louisiana department of Behavioral health,  the Louisiana State Leader for a national non-profit organization that raises awareness to Veteran Suicide, a published author, Motivational Speaker and most importantly a mother. She loves to speak about EMDR therapy, which changed her life. Kimberly wants to reach as many people as possible with her message of hope.

There are a myriad of emotions, thoughts and choices after you have gone through a divorce, especially a survivor of abuse. I go through the roller coaster ride of the 2 years after the divorce, which involves depression, bankruptcy, sleepless night, and sabotage. I also take time to reflect the positive things that I did afterwards that I was not allowed to do when I was married. It is a raw and transparent account filled with teachable moments. [00:00:33] Hi everyone. Welcome back. I hope that you are surviving the holidays so far. I already got my Christmas present this year. Now I said all I want for Christmas is a job, a permanent job. So Friday I was given a job offer by my dream company. I'm [00:01:00] not gonna give you the name on the podcast. You certainly can message me or email me for that.

[00:01:05] But it is very difficult to get into this company. I have applied four times and I interviewed three times to get this position. and the company has great benefits and lots of opportunities, lots of places to transfer to, to learn new skills and

[00:01:28] further my career. So that is an answer to prayer. So I appreciate the prayers for my job situation. I will be doing healthcare administration, but I will be doing more patient facing roles.
