The Dears released their sixth studio album, Times Infinity Volume One, on February 3, 2017 through Dangerbird Records. Times Infinity Volume One is the first instalment of a two-album body of work, composed by the band over a two-year period, later recorded at sessions between Toronto’s Revolution Recording and Montréal’s Thee Mighty Hotel2Tango. With Times Infinity Volume Two slated for release in summer 2017. This weeks featured track is 'Golden Ratio' by The Sailmakers. Siphoning ounces of that baggy swagger from the spectacular Urban Hymns, and pumping their own brand of mellow psych into the mix, The Sailmakers give us another taste of what they’re made of, and they’re proving a force to be reckoned with.

Welcome to episode #29 of the XS Noize Music Podcast. This weeks featured track is from Spawn. SPAWN is a high energy brass fuelled skapunk band from the Netherlands, keeping the beat rocksteady and the upstrokes a-skankin’. The band consist of guitar, bass, drums, keys, horns and vocals.

Paul Draper was the front-man, main songwriter and producer of Mansun - one of the most iconic bands of the ’90s. The band’s debut album Attack of the Grey Lantern entered the UK chart at No 1. The band split in 2003 while recording their fourth LP (partially released on 2004’s Kleptomania). Paul went on to work with other bands and artists in a production role, working with Skin from Skunk Anansie, Menace Beach, The Joy Formidable and with Catherine A.D. aka The Anchoress on the acclaimed Confessions of a Romance Novelist album. Recently Paul Draper released EP One and EP Two which are part of the build up to Paul’s debut solo album due for release in Spring 2017.

22 year old singer/songwriter Willow Robinson was born in Los Angeles and grew up between the Welsh Borders and London where he is now based. With influences ranging from Mick Jagger to Otis Redding, his guitar driven, soulful, rock n roll meets folk songs are full of raw emotion. After signing to record label Clark & McGee Ltd in 2015 and playing a series of support slots with artists including The Jesus and Mary Chain and Killing Joke he has recently released his second EP called Ocean Blue.

This weeks featured track is ‘Your Animal’ from Illustr8ors. In Their Own Words: In one breath illustrators is a metamorphosis, and a stubborn stride towards a place where the core components of rock’n’roll exist in a relative and contemporary time.

Not yesterday, not tomorrow, but right now” In their previous guise, as BlackWolf, illustr8ors scored tours and supports with the likes of The Temperance Movement, Winger, Blues Pills, Von Hertzen Brothers and The Answer to name a few; a nomination for Classic Rock Magazine’s ‘Best New Band’ roll of honour award, numerous playlist slots on major rock radio stations and a debut headline tour endorsed by Planet Rock Radio. However, it was time for a change.

A time for a more decisive stride towards a definitive and individual sonic identity. A rebirth. That’s when illustr8ors were born. Featuring four white hot songs, the band’s self titled ep is sharp, drenched in groove, ladened with hooks and melody, whilst intelligent and a straight to the point collection of music. No messing about, no gimmicks…this is what rock music sounds like right NOW. .

Erasure need no introduction they are responsible for writing some of the biggest pop songs and albums from when they formed in the 80s right up until the present day. This year Erasure are celebrating 30 years together by releasing the ‘From Moscow to Mars’ box set. Mark Millar had a chat with Andy Bell to look back over their career and to find out whats next for Erasure. This weeks featured track is ‘Ascend’ from Shelter. Ascend is a hugely atmospheric, lifting track, this 4th single concludes the releases from Shelters 2nd album also titled Ascend. Cast first appeared on the scene in the mid 90s during the Britpop era with a string of top ten singles and the classic ‘All Change’ album. It became the highest selling debut album in the history of the Polydor label.

Cast released 3 more albums before going their separate ways just after the release of their experimental album ‘Beetroot’. They reconvened in 2012 and released the acclaimed ‘Troubled Times’ album, and will release their next record 'Kicking Up the Dust' early 2017. Cast are now in the middle of an extensive UK tour.

This weeks featured track is from American rock band Con Etiquette. Con Etiquette formed in the fall of 2014 following a tattoo session by drummer Mikey on frontman Antonino. The two discussed current and past music projects, varying greatly in styles and genres, from acoustic alternative to grind-core. The two started revisiting some solo tunes from Antonino’s solo ep “Profound”, and the collective unique styles from the two flowed very naturally.

After a few weeks of jams and writing sessions the two were joined by Vin on guitar, who had a background in heavier metal bands,and later by Brian on bass, who also had a metal background. Surprisingly all of the unique attributes from each of the members, blended into an organic way to develop their own eclectic sound. The result is the debut album “Resulting In…”. The Winachi Tribe are sonic soul collective who adhere to no boundaries or formulas, either musically or culturally. Lyrically explosive, musically diverse, the Electro Funk hybrid are an exceptional band of musicians and producers who have collaborated and toured with artists as diverse as Ian Brown to Danny Saber. ‘A Room With A Zoo’ is the new single from The Winachi Tribe, a band that are firmly on the ascendant.

This weeks featured track is “KALEIDOSCOPE” from The Gravity Drive led by husband and wife Ava and Elijah Wolf who release music on their own independent label. Their debut album TESTAMENT generated a nationwide buzz on Radio 2, 6 Music and BBC Introducing. The Gravity Drive are recording their second album THE WILDLIGHT which is due for release in 2017.

EYELAND marks the Low Anthem’s fourth full-length recording and first new music since 2011’s SMART FLESH. An unprecedented collection of multi-dimensional future folk crafted with true vision and emotional depth, EYELAND follows an extraordinary five-year journey for The Low Anthem. What began as a “vague and rather abstract” short story by co-founder/singer/guitarist Ben Knox Miller became real life as Low Anthem immersed themselves in the creation of their own Eyeland Studios, developing Providence’s once obsolete Columbus Theatre into an innovative recording space and live concert venue.
