The New York Yankees opened up their series with the Diamondbacks with a 5-2 victory on Monday night! Luis Gil looked good in his four-plus innings of work, Anthony Volpe had his first four-hit night, and the bullpen stood on their business and kept the Diamondbacks from making a comeback. Stacey discusses the 2024 Yankees' 5-0 mark to start the season and who shares this mark with them. Plus, we’re now a full turn through the rotation, so once again, all eyes will be on Nestor Cortes and Carlos Rodón to see if they can improve upon their first starts because even though the Yankees are undefeated to start the season, the only starter to pick up a win is Marcus Stroman. Luke Weaver leads the team in wins with two. It’s not sustainable for the bullpen if the starters can’t go more than 4 or 5 innings. (We’ll give Gil a pass since he’s coming back from TJ surgery). The starters need to step it up or the bullpen will be burned out by the All-Star break. And finally, Stacey previews the matchup between Cortes and Zac Gallen on Tuesday night.
