We get in the time machine for another Red Richardson researched special to 2009 this week. A year that sees Michael Jackson, the King of Pop and other things, die, along with Kill Bill star, David Carradine and celebrity chef, Keith Floyd, the Rupert Murdoch owned News of the World newspaper reports on Prince Harry using racist slurs whilst serving in the British Army, a whistleblower reveals the MPs expenses scandals in the Houses of Parliament, and BNP leader and celebrity racist, Nick Griffin appears on BBC Question Time to a lot of protest and backlash from the audience.Also Red has a joke in the top jokes of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and Bobby reveals an affair he had with an MP named Marge.

The boys are back in town. Our first episode back in the studio with everybody present who should be there, Red, Bobby and Jody. We hear about Bobby going to Canada, which Red has never been to, and Jody went up the One World Trade Center, which Red would never do. More importantly we travel back to 1957, for an episode researched by Bobby Mair, a year when the Hamilton Watch Company introduces the first electronic watch in the world, suspected English serial killer, Dr John Bodkin Adams is found not guilty of murder at the Old Bailey, the Soviet Union launches Sputnik 2 with the first animal to orbit the Earth, and Dwight D Eisenhower is sworn in for a second term as the President of the United States. Also Red's friend tries to buy a pizza, and Bobby commits to getting a "The Year Is" tattoo after failing to persuade Jody to get one.

Rosie Jones storms her way onto the podcast and Bobby and Red get in the time machine to take her back to the year she was born, 1990. Aside from being the year of birth of our biggest fan, 1990 also saw the trial of Joseph Hazelwood, the former skipper of the Exxon Valdez, supertanker, in Alaska, who was accused of negligence that resulted in America's second worst oil spill and whose name became a national joke, the first McDonald's opens in Moscow, Russia after 8 months of construction, and an agreement is reached for a two stage plan to re-unite Germany after the Second World War, with the Berlin Wall coming down the year before (See Episode #20 of 1989 for more on that), and Gary Lineker has an accident on the football pitch during a England World Cup game at Italia '90. Also Rosie shares impression of Red with us along with some very funny stories, behind the scenes, making television shows for you to enjoy, and everybody talks about their views on the past and future of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

It is 1971 this week, a year which sees American daredevil Evil Knievel setting a world record by jumping 19 cars on a motorbike in Ontario, California, Qantas agrees to pay $500,000 to Peter Macari aka "Mr Brown" for an elaborate bomb hoax, and Juliane Koepcke is the only survivor of a plane crash, after falling out of the plane attached to her seat as a teenager and survived 11 days in the Amazon rainforest and Dick of The Year Robert Plant writes "Stairway to Heaven". We are back in the Time Machine and brought our very funny friend Alfie Brown with us when a tsunami in Nice, France killed 23 people, China introduces it's infamous one-child policy for families everywhere, the "Iron Lady" Margaret Thatcher becomes the first female Prime Minister of the UK, French police shoot gangster Jacques Mesrine in Paris, Dan White is convicted of manslaughter rather than murder after using what became known as the "Twinkie Defence". Also a big day for everyone as Bobby learns what a tarpaulin is and Red learns who Harvey Milk is.

Possibly one of the most important significant years of the modern age and so very fitting that we have our very funny friend Ed Night to help us make sense of it all. 2001 brings with it a revolutionary website known as Wikipedia that has informed this podcast on more than one occasion, Richard Reid the "shoe bomber" forever changes aeroplane travel by trying to blow up a transatlantic with a bomb hidden in his shoe, the first artificial heart is implanted in Robert Tools in the United States, Crown Prince Dipendra of Nepal kills his father, the king, his mother and other members of the royal family with an assault rifle and then shoots himself in the Nepalese Royal Massacre, Sherpa Temba Tsheri becomes the youngest person to reach the summit of Mount Everest, and Marco Siffredi was the first to descend tallest mountain in the world on a snowboard in 2001, Apple releases the first generation mp3 playing behemoths, the iPod, and American Airlines Flight 587 crashes minutes after take off. Also something known as 9/11 happens in New York City on September 11th which we briefly touch on.
