In this episode of The Your Level Fitness Podcast, I share why I believe the fitness industry has it wrong and how you can finally break free from the “hustle and grind” mentality that leads to burnout. The alternative is an inside/out approach, where you connect with yourself first and then build outward from there. This shift not only changes how you see your weight loss and fitness journey, but it changes how you live your life as a whole.
I talk about the dangers of always pushing “all gas, no brakes” and why that mindset doesn’t work if you want sustainable, long-term results. Instead, I explain how pacing yourself, approaching your habits with a calm and deliberate headspace, and focusing on consistency over intensity will help you achieve more without burning out. When your mind slows down and chatter quiets, you make clearer choices, stay present, and actually move further in your journey.
You’ll hear how I’ve burned out multiple times in my own life and how learning to slow down and set a sustainable pace completely shifted the results I was able to get. This approach helps you focus not only on eating and exercise, but also on personal development, work, and the relationships you have in your life.
If you want to practice this on your own, I’ve created self-paced resources like the daily podcast and daily email, each designed to give you just ten minutes a day to reinforce the inside/out mindset. And if you’re ready for more direct guidance, The YLF Experience offers coaching at an accessible price point that blends one-on-one support with the power of community.
Pace will always beat the grind in the long run. And if you want to build something that lasts decades, not just months, you need to slow down, connect with yourself, and live outwardly from there.

In this episode of The Your Level Fitness Podcast, I’m digging into what it means to truly live an inside/out life. The fitness and weight loss industry is built on convincing us that happiness and fulfillment come from external changes. My perspective flips that on its head. Everything starts within you first.
If you’ve ever felt like life has been running you over, like you’ve been swallowed up by circumstances and left feeling helpless, this conversation is for you. The reality is that while some things will always be outside of our control, many more can be influenced by the choices we make every day. And when you take ownership, even the things you thought were completely out of reach start to shift.
This mindset applies directly to fitness and weight loss. You can’t guarantee a certain number on the scale by following a set program, but you can control your actions, habits, and—most importantly—your mindset. By building a process around your preferences, everything slows down mentally, even if others see you moving quickly. You begin to feel calm, deliberate, and empowered rather than drained and stuck.
The same empowerment that transforms your relationship with eating and exercise carries into other areas of your life. It’s about deciding to stop being a witness to your story and start being the one who directs it. That’s the foundation of living your forever active lifestyle and building lasting fulfillment.
If you’re new to this approach, I’ve linked daily resources that give you both short actionable practices and reflection opportunities. And if you’re looking for more personalized guidance, the YLF Experience is there for you—a mix of group and individual coaching at an accessible price point, backed with a guarantee.
You have more control than you think. When you flip your perspective, everything changes.

In this episode of The Your Level Fitness Podcast, I dig into what it really means to take an inside/out approach to health, fitness, and life. For decades, the fitness and weight loss industry has marketed against our insecurities, convincing us that if we just achieve a certain look, we’ll finally feel good about ourselves. The truth is, lasting change comes when you shift your perspective and start with what drives your actions.
This approach is about calming the noise in your head, moving at a deliberate pace, and trusting yourself to follow through. It’s about starting with your preferences, because it’s much easier to be consistent when you actually enjoy the things you’re doing. Instead of trying to fit yourself into a rigid program, you’re building a foundation that’s yours, one you were never taught to create.
And this foundation doesn’t just apply to eating and exercise. When you learn to develop a calm and deliberate mindset, you’ll see it carry over into every area of your life. The confidence, trust, and consistency you build with yourself can become the springboard for how you approach everything.
For many of us, this is about unlearning decades of chasing quick fixes and side-glances in the mirror that never give us the validation we’re looking for. It’s about choosing to reinforce new beliefs and creating a forever active lifestyle that fits who you are. If you’re ready to move away from programs that only scratch the surface and finally build a system that lasts, this episode will help you start that process.

In this episode of The Your Level Fitness Podcast, I’m diving into one of the most overlooked parts of any fitness or weight loss journey. The truth is, most of the work is not exciting. It’s about showing up day after day, eating your food, doing your exercise, managing your stress, and keeping a steady pace with the choices you make. Just like brushing your teeth, it’s not thrilling, but it’s essential.
When you build a routine around your preferences and trust yourself to follow through, you create a foundation that makes everything smoother. The problem with most fitness advice is that it sells you programs, tactics, and challenges without showing you how to connect them to who you are. Without that foundation, you jump from one program to the next, always chasing something new but never truly building consistency.
What changes everything is learning how to design your approach around what works for you. It will feel boring at times, and that’s actually a good thing. The calm, deliberate rhythm is what makes your forever active lifestyle sustainable. From there, you can use tools, programs, or challenges as needed, but you’ll always have your personal foundation to come back to.
This is the inside/out approach that I share every day through this podcast, the daily emails, and my coaching programs. If you’re ready to stop chasing shiny new tactics and finally build a system that lasts, this episode will show you why celebrating the boring daily work is the most important step you can take.

In this episode of The Your Level Fitness Podcast, I’m digging into the topic of confidence and how it truly develops. You’ve probably heard the advice that you just need to take action first and confidence will follow, but I believe that’s only part of the story. Confidence is a choice. It starts when you decide to believe in yourself, to trust that you will figure things out, and to lean into your own abilities before the action even happens.
From there, your actions become reinforcing proof of what you already know to be true, instead of being the only source of validation. We talk about how most of us already reinforce negative beliefs in our day-to-day lives, and how you can flip that by choosing to reinforce trust, self-belief, and confidence in the process you’re on. I also share how to handle the old thought patterns that inevitably pop up, and why creating a deliberate headspace and calm, consistent approach is key to making confidence your default.
This isn’t about waiting until you’ve “done enough” to feel worthy. It’s about choosing confidence now, in this moment, and practicing it daily as you continue your inside/out approach to health, fitness, and life.

Episode Description
In this episode of The Your Level Fitness Podcast, I’m talking about what to do when life throws you completely off your program. Whether it’s a day, a week, or even months where you haven’t been consistent, this isn’t the end of your journey. It’s part of the lifelong process. You’ll hear why the length of the break doesn’t define you, how to trust that you’ll get back on track when you’re ready, and why it’s often best to start again with the smallest possible step.
I’ll share why developing a calm mind and a deliberate approach is essential for navigating the ups and downs of motivation, and how to spot wins and opportunities even in chaotic times. You’ll learn the difference between pushing through on a day when you just don’t feel like it and giving yourself permission to take time away when life demands it. This is all about building your fitness and weight loss journey around your preferences so it’s always there for you to return to.

Episode Description
In this episode of The Your Level Fitness Podcast, I’m talking about one of the most effective ways to build momentum in your fitness and weight loss journey — setting and exceeding your minimum daily actions. These are the small, realistic goals you set for yourself that you know you can consistently achieve, and when you surpass them, you reinforce your confidence and capability.
We’ll break down how to set daily and weekly targets in a way that positions you to win more often than not. By intentionally aiming slightly below your usual effort, you create space to feel like you’re overdelivering for yourself — whether that’s in your workouts, your nutrition, or other habits. This approach isn’t about lowering standards, it’s about building trust in your ability to follow through, which leads to sustained momentum.
I’ll share how I use this same method in my own work, from producing multiple podcast episodes ahead of schedule to staying consistent with content creation. This mindset goes beyond health and fitness and applies to every area where you want long-term progress.
We’ll also look at how minimum daily actions tie into the inside/out approach and the goal-setting and accountability framework I use in my daily emails. If you want a system that helps you stick with your habits, avoid burnout, and stay encouraged along the way, this is a conversation you’ll want to hear.

Episode Description
In this episode of The Your Level Fitness Podcast, I’m tackling one of the biggest obstacles in creating a sustainable eating plan — your trigger foods. These are the foods you’ve labeled as off-limits or ones you believe you can only eat “in moderation.” Instead of avoiding them, I walk you through a structured process for diffusing their power so they can become just another food you enjoy without guilt.
We’ll talk about how to integrate your favorite foods into your forever eating plan by pairing them with simple additions like a serving of produce and water at every main meal. I’ll explain why eating your trigger foods daily in a controlled, intentional way can remove the mental tug-of-war and help you feel in control again. You’ll also hear how the food industry designs processed, packaged items to keep you coming back for more — and how knowing the rules of the game can help you decide when and how to play.
By the end, you’ll see how to create a balanced eating structure that starts with your preferences, builds toward a healthier lifestyle, and lasts for decades. This is all part of the inside/out process I use with clients to help them develop a positive relationship with food and fitness for life.

Episode Description
In this episode of The Your Level Fitness Podcast, I’m asking you one of the most important questions you’ll ever answer… Who are you, really? Not the titles you carry, not the roles you play for other people, but the true version of you when everything else is stripped away.
For many of us, life has pulled us so far into responsibilities and expectations that we’ve lost touch with our own identity. We define ourselves by being a spouse, a parent, a friend, or an employee, but rarely stop to consider who we are to ourselves. Often, reconnecting with that part of us means going back to a time in childhood when curiosity, hope, and dreams guided our days. While you can’t live like your eight-year-old self (no matter how appealing daily Chuck E. Cheese trips may sound), you can bring back that spark and perspective.
Living an inside/out life means aligning your choices and actions with who you truly are. It’s about finding fulfillment and avoiding the regret of realizing too late that you lived for everyone else’s expectations. I’ll share how you can start this reconnection process today, and why doing so is foundational for long-term happiness, health, and fitness.
If you’re ready to strip away the noise, find your center, and live outwardly from the truest version of you, this conversation is where you start.
