Once you start building your approach around what you enjoy and what fits your current lifestyle, everything becomes easier to sustain.

We unpack how to take control of your goals without tying them to arbitrary deadlines, especially with weight loss. I also talk about how cerebral palsy shaped my own path in the fitness industry, and how that unique perspective can help others find their voice and place too. Whether you want to focus on your personal goals or step into a coaching role, this episode will encourage you to lean into who you are and what you’ve learned. That’s where long-term change starts.

    Episode Description:

In this episode of The Your Level Fitness Podcast, I’m diving into why walking can be one of the most powerful tools for building your inside/out connection. Whether it’s a five-minute stroll after dinner or time spent sitting outside taking in the world around you, these moments are opportunities to connect with your thoughts, your body, and yourself without distraction.

This isn’t about doing it perfectly or turning it into a daily task. It’s about using walking and outdoor stillness as ways to observe your thoughts and feelings. I’ll walk you through how this practice supports a sustainable fitness lifestyle and share how it fits into the broader YLF message of building from the inside out.

We also talk about what it really means to be part of the YLF community, the role of self-paced resources, and how you can take what you're already doing with food and movement and make it truly your own. Whether you’re just starting out or you’ve been working on your health for a while, this episode reminds you that how you connect with yourself matters more than how hard you hustle.

If you’ve been chasing programs that never felt right or following plans because someone said you should, this is a conversation you don’t want to miss.

Health and fitness are often portrayed online as exciting, dramatic, and filled with constant highs. But the reality is much more… boring. And that’s actually the win. In this episode of The Your Level Fitness Podcast, I talk about why we need to celebrate the ordinary, day-to-day actions of taking care of ourselves and how that quiet consistency is where real progress happens.

I’ll dive into what it means to have a calm and deliberate approach to health, fitness, and life itself. We’ll explore how chasing constant excitement or fear around workouts and food can trap you in a cycle that burns you out—and why it’s so powerful to slow down, do the work, and accept that the everyday “boring” parts are what actually change you.

We’ll also get into the role of therapy, journaling, and spending time in your own thoughts as part of this process. Yes, it’s uncomfortable at first. But eventually the mental noise calms down, and you start to hear your own voice again—not the voices of others who planted doubt and negativity in your head.

If you’ve been on a weight loss journey for years, maybe even decades, this episode will help you reset your perspective. It’s time to stop chasing the extremes and start appreciating the deliberate pace that leads to lasting change.

Do you remember when certain foods seemed to have complete control over you? When they felt off-limits, but you couldn’t stop thinking about them? In this episode of The Your Level Fitness Podcast, I’m diving into how you can finally break free from the grip of “trigger foods” and build a calmer, more confident relationship with eating.

We talk about why eating your trigger food every single day can actually diffuse its power over you, and how pairing that with simple habits like drinking water and eating produce at meals can reframe your mindset. I’ll walk you through how to structure this process so that you can go from feeling guilty about certain foods to feeling empowered around them.

This isn’t just about weight loss—it’s about moving through your entire life at a calm, deliberate pace. I’ll share how you can use the inside/out approach to build an eating plan based on your preferences, not rules, and how to stop letting fear or guilt control your choices.

This episode is for anyone who’s been on a weight loss journey for decades, who has labeled themselves as “addicted” to certain foods, or who has an entire “can’t have in the house” list. It’s time to change that narrative.

Burnout sneaks up on all of us, especially when we’re pushing hard on our weight loss journey. In this episode of The Your Level Fitness Podcast, I’m diving into why “more” isn’t always the answer and how you can actually achieve better results by slowing things down in your head. It’s about setting goals that challenge you but don’t drain you, and building a mental pace that feels calm and deliberate even when life around you feels fast.

I share how I approach minimum daily actions and weekly goals, and why setting them slightly under what you think you can do helps you stay consistent. This way you’re not only meeting your goals, you’re exceeding them at a pace that builds confidence instead of exhaustion.

We’ll talk about the mental side of all of this too. Because the truth is, you can’t outrun your emotions. You have to respect them, learn from them, and work with them. That’s what this whole inside/out process is about. Fitness and weight loss are emotional journeys, but putting some structure around them can take the edge off while still leaving space to feel and grow.

When you train yourself to stay calm and deliberate, you’ll see how much that mindset spills over into every area of your life. Not every day will be perfect, but aiming for that calm headspace 85 percent of the time makes a world of difference. This isn’t just about hitting your workouts or sticking to your food plan, it’s about changing how you process it all in your head so you can show up for yourself long term.

If you want to go deeper into this work, make sure you subscribe to the daily podcast, sign up for the daily email, and check out the YLF Experience if you’re looking for more one-on-one guidance. You don’t have to burn yourself out to get where you want to go. Let’s do this together, the calm way.

What if your favorite foods were no longer forbidden? In this episode of The Your Level Fitness Podcast, I walk you through the process of defusing trigger foods so they lose the control they’ve had over you for years.

I break down how eating your trigger food every single day can actually free you from the guilt and anxiety that come with restriction. When you eat it daily, it slowly becomes less of a big deal. You’ll start to see that you don’t need to binge on it anymore, and eventually you can choose when you want it without fear.

We also talk about the steps that make this process easier. Removing the weight loss deadline gives you the space to work through this at your own pace. Adding water to every meal and including a serving of produce with each one creates simple, positive actions you can point to when your mind starts to spiral. This isn’t about willpower. It’s about building skills.

Defusing trigger foods is like learning any other skill. It takes practice. It takes time. And it takes a shift in how you see the process. You’ll hear how to approach this step by step, how to work through the emotions that come up, and how to build an eating plan around your preferences that will actually stick.

Whether your trigger food is pizza, chocolate, fries, or something else entirely, you’ll learn how to stop letting it control you and finally find peace with what’s been on your “off-limits” list for too long.

Consistency is not flashy, and it is rarely exciting, but it is the thing that gets you where you want to go. In this episode of The Your Level Fitness Podcast, I share how an old iPod armband became the perfect example of this truth. Back when I was strapping a bulky case to my arm and untangling wired earbuds before every workout, it wasn’t glamorous, but it got the job done.

That’s what consistency really is. It’s about doing what you are willing and able to do right now. It may not be perfect, and it may not be pretty, but it sets the foundation for everything that comes next. Over time, just like we moved from wired earbuds to wireless headphones, what you do will evolve, but your foundation stays the same—you return to it when life gets messy, and it helps you move forward again.

In this episode, we talk about building that kind of consistency as a skill. We cover why your early habits don’t have to be permanent, how your willingness and ability will shift, and why believing you can follow through is more powerful than any diet or workout plan you’ve ever tried.

If you’ve been on this journey for years—or even decades—this is your reminder that the loud, drastic moves aren’t what keep you going. The quiet, steady actions are.

We’ve been conditioned to think that the faster we lose weight, the better. That somehow reaching the finish line quickly means more success. But here’s the truth – the fast track often leads to burnout, frustration, and the same cycle of starting and stopping. In this episode of The Your Level Fitness Podcast, I’m breaking down why slowing down is not only okay, it’s essential.

We talk about why the weight loss industry pushes an “all gas, no brakes” mentality and how that has convinced so many of us to shoehorn our lives into diets, workouts, and tactics that never truly fit. I share how shifting your focus to calm, deliberate actions built around your preferences will not only help you lose weight, but make it easier to maintain those results for life.

This isn’t just about the number on the scale. It’s about finding peace in your daily choices, removing the anxiety around food, workouts, and streaks, and building a foundation you can actually enjoy living with. You don’t need more pressure – you need an inside/out approach.

If you’ve been chasing the quick fix and are ready to finally build something sustainable, this episode will show you how to slow down, reset, and create a process that works for you, not against you.
