This week on the Zen Perry Project, we’re honored to share a conversation with the inimitably creative Brant Bjork. Exceptionally prolific all while sincerely chill, Brant talks everything from announcing his plans to release a shelved solo album to discussing how Brant Bjork Trio and Stöner both exemplify an approach to artistic expression that he’s worked hard to hone throughout his storied career.

This week on the Zen Perry Project, rock guitar goddess Emily Wolfe calls in from her home in Austin, Texas. A rising star in the scene, she talks about everything from the thought processes of designing her signature guitar and customized pedals to elaborating on the importance of using her songwriting platform to criticize and protest the oppressive, unjust laws passed in both her home state and across the nation. In the midst of her career’s busiest year of touring yet, we’re excited to see where Emily’s combination of immense talent and her diligent hardworking nature will take her next.

Photo courtesy of Whitney Hensley, we super appreciate her letting us use these sweet shots of Emily at the Ryman in Nashville! Check out Whitney's stellar photography on her website.

Emily is touring around the United States this fall, we’re very pumped to hear her shred the Bowery Electric here in NYC on September 10th. Check out her website for all of her tour dates and music!

This week on Zen Perry Project we’re joined by SCARY, guitarist and audio engineer for BLACK TUSK - a band famous for a style of sludge/stoner metal straight from the  swamplands of Savannah, Georgia. Besides the inevitable questions about his nickname and about his lifelong relationship with the scene that extends far before his ax was introduced to the mix in 2018, Scary talks through some of his favorite gear and considers how he stays inspired with his work.

BLACK TUSK is touring the U.S East Coast this fall, we can’t wait for them to crush SAINT VITUS BAR on August 30th!!

This week on Zen Perry Project, we crack open a bottle of Canadian Club Whisky with Reed Alton, the talented vocalist of OSYRON - a progressive symphonic metal band from Calgary, Canada. We talked everything from how the band aspires to bring Canadian history and culture into the metal scene,  to the masterful production of their epic music videos and albums (drop everything and check out 2022's Momentous - you'll thank us later), to uncovering some inter-band hockey rivalries - because let's be real, is there a sport more metal than hockey?

Catch OSYRON touring North America this summer with Seven Kingdoms - we can't wait to catch them at Mercury Lounge here in NYC on August 30th!

This week on the Zen Perry Project, we're joined by Lizzie Dark0 at the new Bad Bishop Studio. Dark0's music is described as bubble-grunge a genre that fits her dark pop lo-fi sound. We had such a fun time talking a range of topics from her forming a band and absolutely killing it on stage in a short amount of time to world building- the art of creating a visual story and brand to go with your music-  the paranormal and recording at home.  You should absolutely check out her music video for Virgin Suicide on youtube and stream her music, and stay tuned for her new single Dull Ache August 11th!

This week on Zen Perry Project, we’re SO excited to be joined by one of the most influential guitarists in stoner rock, Niklas ‘Dango’ Källgren from the  TRUCKFIGHTERS!! Calling in from Sweden, Dango talks about everything from why he and Ozo founded their own label and started FuzzFest to how the war in Ukraine has affected the band’s studio location. While he might have let slip some disappointing news about the band’s planned Desertfest appearance, we were nevertheless deeply inspired by his insightful approach to his work and truly cannot wait to hear what he plays next!

This week on Zen Perry Project, we’re joined by Annabel Asher - a phenomenal vocalist with impeccable style who recently released a stellar debut single “555”. After meeting a few weeks ago sharing a stage at Bowery Electric, this cheeky conversation felt like it could’ve gone on forever - we discuss everything from wondering how artists occasionally believe themselves to be exempt from the basic morals of human decency to Annabel’s plans as a dictator after inevitably achieving world domination. This episode also includes ZPP's first first announcement?!

This week on Zen Perry Project, Phil SanGiacomo & Justin Sherrell of the Brooklyn based heavy metal band SOMNURI reinforce our belief that the only thing better than two drummers chatting is three. About to embark on a North American Summer Tour and with their third album Desiderium set to release on July 21st, Phil and Justin talk everything from the most memorable thing they’ve had written on a kick drum to how a scary close call emboldened them to hold nothing back in their artistic pursuits.

This week on Zen Perry Project, neuroscientist by day / singer-songwriter by night SAMMIE MARTIN joins the show live from the Bushwick Basement! After assuaging Zen’s curiosity about any unintentionally self-inflicted brain damage, the conversation dives into the inspirations for Sammie’s songs like “I Can’t Lose Me To You” (which Zen performed on before ever meeting her in-person), ponders what stardust might sound like, appreciates the quality of distinctive vocal harmonies, and recounts how one might react to coming across a burning tree in a cemetery.

Sammie uses her artistic platform to raise awareness and thousands of dollars in donations to organizations advocating for peoples’ rights and well-being around the world. She’s currently training for the New York Marathon and is running to support FACES (Finding a Cure for Epilepsy & Seizures) - if you’re able, consider donating via this link- (https://nyulangone.org/give/fundraise/team-campaigns/martin)

Oooo Yeehaaah!!! This week on Zen Perry Project, melt yer blues away and fuel your fire with Jaymz Lennfield, our hero of the day from BEATALLICA - a delightful band that definitively answers “What would it sound like if Metallica covered the Beatles?”. Revolving through topics like what goes into releasing a song in 14 different languages, why gigs at casinos are hard on vocals, and how all you need to sustain a passion is a bit of love - you’d be unforgiven to miss this one \m/
