Two movies titled House enter, only one will leave (with its title) as Herman Davis and Robert Rau watch the 1986 horror film and the 1977 “it’s gotta be horror film because what else could it be” Japanese import to determine which film should be called House.

Like most of these podcasts, this episode came about because both Herman and Robert have watched one of these movies. Herman saw the ’86 version because his parents had no problem with Herman getting nightmares. Also, George Wendt plays the neighbor, and that’s always a plus. Robert owns the ’77 version on Criterion because it is totally bonkers and shouldn’t have ever been made.

While both films do feature houses, does either one deserve to have that title? Listen if you dare.

Two movies titled Gridlocked(k’d) enter, only one will leave (with its title) as Herman Davis and Robert Rau watch Tupac Shakur’s breakthrough performance and the Canadian record-holder for most bullets on screen to determine which film should be called Gridlocked(k’d).

Because Herman has had to put up with Robert’s horrible choices for the past few weeks, this choice is all on “Omega Prime.” It did help the creators of the 2015 Gridlocked did a Reddit AMA, and Robert was able to get a question answered that pertained directly to this podcast (the answer may shock you … not really).

First up was the Tupac Shakur/Tim Roth oddity directed by a guy who used his newfound success to direct, erm, Glitter. While Gridlock’d loses focus, a lot, it is a very entertaining relic from the ’90s. The newer Gridlocked‘s biggest problem is the length. There’s no reason to make this a two-hour movie, especially with a very straightforward plot and a cast dominated by ex-wrestlers. Whose title will stay, and whose will have to go? Listen if you dare.

Two movies titled (The) Room enter, only one will leave (with its title) as Herman Davis, Nick Gariano, and Robert Rau watch two powerhouse performances from Brie Larson and Tommy Wiseau to determine which film should be called (The) Room.

Sure, the titles aren’t exactly the same, but exceptions must be made when it comes to possibly the best movie of 2015 and one of the worst movies of all time. Both Nick and Herman have not seen either movie, while Robert came dressed in a The Room T-Shirt, as well as plastic spoons and a football to recreate a live The Room experience.

First, the Brie Larson award-winning performance Room was watched, and everyone agreed it was a great movie they probably never want to watch again. Second was Tommy Wiseau’s Opus, and most agreed that this was a bad movie they never want to see again. But which film will actually earn its title, and which film will be pelted with plastic spoons? Two movies titled Nothing But Trouble enter, only one will leave (with its title) as Herman Davis, Rusty Elkins, Andrea Vickery, Zach Vickery and Robert Rau watch a Laurel and Hardy ditty and Dan Aykroyd’s only directorial effort to determine which should be called Nothing But Trouble.

Dan Aykroyd’s version is considered one of the worst things from the 90’s you liked when you were a kid, so it would make sense that everyone but Robert was intrigued to find out how bad this movie was going to be.  First, the gang watched the Laurel and Hardy movie, some their first Laurel and Hardy film, and talked a bit about other bygone classics that might not have stood the test of time.  But that’s just the appetizer as they delve deep into the abyss of Dan Aykroyd and talk a bit about the surprise appearance by Tupac Shakur and the rest of Digital Underground.

Two movies titled Deadpool enter, only one will leave (with its title) as Herman Davis, Andrea Vickery, Zach Vickery and Robert Rau watch the surprise hit of 2016 and the last of the Dirty Harry movies to determine who deserves the title Deadpool.

Yes, this is a bit of a cheat since the Dirty Harry movie is called The Dead Pool, but Robert had to make up for last week’s The Guest snorefest, and decided to pick two winners. Both Robert and Herman had seen the Ryan Reynold’s movie, but Andrea and Zach were first timers. In fact, they haven’t watched any of the Marvel movies since The Avengers came out (future podcast foreshadowing). The Dirty Harry movie — dubbed “Grandpa Porn” by Zach — was new to everyone but Robert, who only vaguely remembered it, but it won everyone over with a toy car chasing a regular-sized car all throughout San Francisco, among many other things. Seriously, this movie was great enough to look up any future podcast for the Dirty Harry series.  But would that be enough to sway everyone’s decision? Tune in to find out.

Two movies titled The Guest enter, only one will leave (with its title) as Herman Davis and Robert Rau watch the criminally underrated 2014 thriller and the 1963 substitute for Ambien to determine which deserves the title The Guest.

The 2014 The Guest is a personal favorite of Robert’s, which means the deck is certainly stacked. If you haven’t seen the Dan Stevens/Maika Monroe tale of a guy who’s here to help, go out and watch it without listening to this podcast because the guys spoil a good bit of the movie. As for the 1963 The Guest, you can go on ignoring that movie. Based on a hit play and starring Robert Shaw and Donald Pleasence, it was originally called The Caretaker and made for 30 grand, and boy is it boring. Not only did both the hosts fall asleep during the movie, but Robert had to apologize afterwards for making Herman put up with his nonsense.

Two movies titled Hitman enter, only one will leave (with its title) as Herman Davis, David Vitrano, and Robert Rau watch the Timothy Olyphant video game adaptation and a 70s blaxploitation film to determine which deserves the title Hitman.

Turns out there are two versions of the Timothy Olyphant movie. We ended up watching the one that someone uploaded for free on Youtube, which was a very strong R version that never made it into theaters. But that didn’t change how indifferent everyone felt about the 2007 Hitman, with David dubbing the movie “Hit-meh.”  The 1972 version has probably one of the strongest trailers to date, but it takes a long time for the movie to pick up the pace. Even though the movie took its time, we did see Pam Grier get mauled by a lion.

Two movies titled Kicking and Screaming enter, only one will leave (with its title) as Herman Davis, Zach Vickery, and Robert Rau watch Noah Baumbach explore lazy twentysomethings and Will Ferrell yell a lot to determine which deserves the title Kicking and Screaming. Zach was kind enough to recommend these titles and unfortunate enough to be available to watch them, so he sat down with the always available (ladies) Herman and Robert to discuss both movies. To the horror of Herman, Robert admits he has never seen the Eddie Murphy Delirious, but has seen John Candy’s version dozens of times. Herman contemplates leaving and never coming back, but figures Robert would never watch Eddie’s classic standup special unless he’s forced to.

Two movies titled Seven enter, only one will leave (with its title) as Herman Davis, Eric McCauley and Robert Rau watch the David Fincher gross fest and the heavily edited Andy Sidaris soft core porn and determine which should be called Seven. While Fincher is clearly the favorite coming into this contest, the other movie does have boobs, or should have boobs. The only copy Robert could find was on Youtube, and sometimes their sensitive about that kind of stuff.
