The Marvel Universe, is ever changing, and ever expanding. Not only is Marvel making waves when it comes to their movies, but this year, they’ve had a tremendous amount of hype on the small screen as well. With some other projects in development, and with WandaVision and Falcon & the Winter Soldier having already been released, Loki promised to be a great start to the beginning of the Marvel summer!!
“Loki is an American television series created by Michael Waldron for the streaming service Disney+, based on Marvel Comics featuring the character of the same name. Set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), it shares continuity with the films of the franchise and takes place after the events of the film Avengers: Endgame (2019), in which an alternate version of Loki created a new timeline. Loki is produced by Marvel Studios, with Waldron serving as head writer and Kate Herron directing for the first season.”
Whether you’re team WandaVision, or team Falcon & The Winter Soldier, Lokie promised to be something entirely different. At the time of this recording, there was only three episodes out, which happened to be half of the season, and at the time of this writing, there are five episodes out, with only the season finale left. There are some pretty big Marvel Easter eggs in this series, and some other cool comic book lore. This is a show that you definitely should give a try, especially at only six episodes total!

Man oh man, do we have a BIG interview for all of you today! For those of you who have been living under a rock, Sweet Tooth was number one on Netflix for a while, including the week that it debuted. Stemming from the comic book of the same name, created by Jeff Lemire, Sweet Tooth tells the story of a young boy, and his unwitting companion, during a world pandemic that has effected the worlds children, by turning them into half human and half animal hybrids.
“Sweet Tooth follows the story of Gus, also sometimes known as Sweet Tooth for his love of chocolate, and his journey to try to find his mother after his father dies in the wake of the two of them living together alone in hiding for a decade in a cabin in the woods.”
We’ve already done a review of the show itself, and today we are joined by the star of the series himself, Christian Convery! Christian plays Gus, the ever positive young boy, who wants nothing more than to find his mother, in a world that has done nothing but change around him, since the death of his father, and since meeting his new best friend, Big Man. Listening to Christian speak, and watching him on the small screen, you’d never guess that he was as young as he is! He’s definitely on the elevator up, and this show will be a major bright spot in his career!

We’re here today, to speak about a pop culture classic! For today’s subject, we’re going back in time, to 1997! Twenty four years ago, was a time of very few special effects, to the point where this movie was dubbed the “special effects movie event” of the time. Whether that hurt or helped this movie is really up for debate! We’re, of course, speaking about the Michael Jai White & John Leguizamo movie, Spawn!
“Covert government assassin Al Simmons (Michael Jai White) is killed after being double-crossed by his boss, Jason Wynn (Martin Sheen). Upon arriving in Hell, Simmons is offered an opportunity to return to Earth if he’s willing to lead an evil army. He accepts, and is reincarnated as a “Hellspawn” — a twisted, horribly disfigured version of his former self. However, Spawn serves as a force of good, much to the dismay of the Devil’s henchman, a wicked clown (John Alberto Leguizamo).”
We have MANY thoughts about this movie, but one of the shining stars, is the performance of John Leguizamo! Leguizamo brings the Violator to life, and what otherwise might seem like an exposition contest! Like any other topic that we speak about though, it’s at least worth the first time watch, if you haven’t seen it yet. Especially because it’s one of the first super hero movies, at a time where they weren’t as popular as they are at this moment in history!

There is so much Conjuring out there in the world! We are coming to you today to talk about the third installment in The Conjuring franchise, and the eighth film in the universe franchise! The Conjuring is based off of the lives of Ed and Lorraine Warren. Ed and Lorraine Warren are a married couple who have purported to have been through a tremendous amount of different paranormal events. Some of these are said to include the Amityville incident, the Enfield Poltergeist, union cemetery, and much more! So many, in fact, that they had (before their passing) a full room in their home, full of different “artifacts” from every event that they participated in. Probably, most famous, is the Annabelle doll, that was supposedly possessed by a demon.
For this episode, we’re talking about, The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do it:
“Paranormal investigators Ed and Lorraine Warren take on one of the most sensational cases of their careers after a cop stumbles upon a dazed and bloodied young man walking down the road. Accused of murder, the suspect claims demonic possession as his defense, forcing the Warrens into a supernatural inquiry unlike anything they’ve ever seen before.”
We’d done our best to put as much of the universe into our brain, with The Devil Made Me Do It, being the main point of conversation, but a good conversation of The Conjuring Universe as a whole!

We are joined by a very special guest today, who is doing her best to make a difference in literacy!! We are speaking to the amazingly funny, Dani Hedlund!! Dani is the CEO & founder of the Brink Literacy Project! The team at the Brink Literacy Project specializes in “education, literacy, writing, editing, publishing, and prison reform.” Today, we are talking to her, about her project, The Literary Tarot!
“Brink Literacy Project, a nonprofit organization dedicated to changing the world through storytelling, is launching a Kickstarter campaign for The Literary Tarot. This is an ambitious and unusual collaboration with some of the greatest authors and cartoonists of our time who have been asked to pair a tarot card with a seminal book that embodies the meaning of the arcana. Working with the storytellers and a diverse and talented art team, Brink Literacy Project has tapped into the magic of classic literature to bring a whole new kind of tarot deck to life.”
There are a few hours left in the Kickstarter program, and we DEFINITELY encourage you to support this awesome project! The work that Dani, and the rest of the team at the Brink Literacy Project is amazing, and we hope you’ll want to jump on board, in order to help further their plans!

Who doesn’t like a good Jason Statham movie? On top of that, who doesn’t like a well made Guy Ritchie movie!? Well for today, we’re bringing you a little bit of both of those worlds! From the mind of Guy Ritchie, and the acting (though not a ton of martial arts) of Jason Statham, we are talking about the new movie, Wrath of Man!
“Mysterious and wild-eyed, a new security guard for a cash truck surprises his co-workers when he unleashes precision skills during a heist. The crew is left wondering who he is and where he came from. Soon, the marksman’s ultimate motive becomes clear as he takes dramatic and irrevocable steps to settle a score.”
This is one of the darker movies that Jason Statham has attached himself to, but it definitely pays off in the end. He’s flexing more of his mobster style acting, than his normal martial arts acting, which, in my opinion, makes this feel a little different, and you are a little more connected with him, when you figure out what his motives are. Give it a try, and we promise that you won’t come out dissapointed!

Today’s guest has been gracing our screens for over thirty eight years, making his debut in 1983, as Barker, in the film, The Man Who Wasn’t There. Whether it’s on the small screen, or the big screen, Ron Canada has been entertaining fans for a LONG time, and doing such a great job at it! We had the opportunity to speak with Ron about a film that we’d already done an episode on, The Empty Man.
“On the trail of a missing girl, an ex-cop comes across a secretive group attempting to summon a terrifying supernatural entity.”
So, of course the interview was specifically geared towards The Empty Man, but we couldn’t have this tenured of an actor on the show without going into the rest of his career as well. From Cheers, and Star Trek, to Adventures in Babysitting and Crown Heights, there was a TON of different projects to talk to him about! If you’re not familiar with what Ron does, just pick your favorite genre, and I’m sure that he’ll have some kind of project that fits into that genre, specializing in judges and detectives! Make sure you go check out his part in The Empty Man, then our episode on the subject, and then this interview!

There are only a few movies in the existence of media, that really stick with you, and leave a lasting impression, that even as you get older, doesn’t seem to go away. In the world we live in now, we do get a lot of “torture porn” type of movies, but that all came from somewhere, and they don’t do it nearly as well as where it came from. Our subject for today is DEFINITELY a pop culture classic. We’re talking about the Brad Pitt, Morgan Freeman, and Kevin Spacey movie, Seven.
“When retiring police Detective William Somerset (Morgan Freeman) tackles a final case with the aid of newly transferred David Mills (Brad Pitt), they discover a number of elaborate and grizzly murders. They soon realize they are dealing with a serial killer (Kevin Spacey) who is targeting people he thinks represent one of the seven deadly sins. Somerset also befriends Mills’ wife, Tracy (Gwyneth Paltrow), who is pregnant and afraid to raise her child in the crime-riddled city.”
The three main characters create a masterful performance, in what is one of the best detective films of all time! If somehow, you have not seen this movie, do us a favor, stop what you’re doing, and put this movie into your brain! Of course it’s not for the faint of heart, but beyond the grizzly is a beautiful film!
