  • Europe's Energy Crisis is a near Miss (Perspectives on Energy)

Is Europe's Energy Crisis over.  The host for this show is Guillermo Sabatier.

Europe has managed to avoid a serious energy crisis for now, thanks mostly to unusually warm weather and procuring other sources of LNG after Russia cut off supply.  Unfortunately, winter is not yet over and current energy prices, even with price caps, are not sustainable.  To complicate matters, a large part of the French nuclear power plant fleet is out for maintenance and refueling, which further limits the energy availability.  This could signal a dramatic change on energy policy and the path toward zero carbon emissions and renewables.

  • Getting Temporary Tax Fixes (Talking Tax)

Not What Candidate Green Promised.  The hosts for this show are Jay Fidell and Tom Yamachika.

We discuss the tax proposals taking shape at the Legislature, and the reaction of key legislators to the initiatives set forth by then-Candidate Josh Green on the campaign trail.  Simply put, an exemption for food and medicine might not be in the cards, so Green seems to be backpedaling to asking for a rebate for the middle class, something perhaps similar to the $300 per taxpayer rebate in 2021.

  • Brazil Has its Jan 6 Event, a Mirror Image (American Issues Take One)

Trump's Election Denial Virus Spreads.  The hosts for this show are Tim Apicella and Jay Fidell.  The guests are Chuck Crumpton and Cynthia Lee Sinclair.

Brazil just experienced the mirror image of our nation's Capital Jan 6 invasion by hundreds of supporters of former President Bolsonaro. Supporters loyal to the ex-president camped out for days near military bases, demanding the military step in to restore Bolsonaro back to power as president. What was their reason for this drastic interruption of democracy? Would we be surprised to learn that they claimed the election was a 'rigged election'? As Trump called insurrectionists to Washington DC, so did Bolsonaro cry out that the election was stolen due to malfunctioning voting machines and fake news. Almost point by point the invasion of Brazil's Supreme Court, National Congress, and Planalto Palace was identical to our own Capital attack. The major difference was on the day of attack, 209 insurrectionists were taken into custody and 1,000  were arrested the day after the attack. The panel explores to what degree did Jan 6 influence this event in Brazil.
