Today’s conversation is with Emily Adler Mosqueda, and we got super real about postpartum depression; what it is, when it happens, how long it can last, and why we need to change our perspective about it. We discussed the need to work on breaking stigmas, because mental health is not a weakness, and most importantly learning to love and accept ourselves where we are at.
A little bit more about Emily in her own words: I’m a native Oregonian, bilingual and bicultural pediatric speech-language pathologist with over ten years experience working with kids and their families birth to five. I work as a clinical supervisor for the University of Oregon. I’m a mom of two girls and my husband is a dr of Chinese medicine. You can continue to follow her on Instagram at @emily.adler.mosqueda.

Caleb does this on his very own podcast, Shall We Continue, which you can find on Anchor: https://anchor.fm/caleb-harris9. Today I have a conversation with a magical human, Nicole Ayers. Nicole shares about her self love journey, one body part at a time. But deeper than that, Nicole and I talk about the underlying theme of why self love is something many of us need to re-learn - judgment & the comparison game. I know you know what I'm talking about. :)
More about Nicole in her own words: Nicole C. Ayers is the award-winning author of Love Notes to My Body and its two body-positive companion books. She’s been invited to speak about the importance of women accepting and respecting their bodies by local and national media, and she invites women to disrupt the narrative that tells them they—and their bodies—are not enough, just as they are.

What is that truth that deep down you had a hard time admitting, even to yourself? Megan speaks a truth that I would guess many parents have had, but are too afraid to admit. So many of us will be able to relate to Megan's story (I know I did!) but the ultimate truth was, Megan had to dig deep and find how to like HERSELF first. When you're giving your energy to everyone else, you have nothing to give to yourself and that makes you feel all sorts of things (for me it was resentment!).
I hope you enjoy our conversation!

Today I had a conversation with Megan Pulvermacher where she shares her coming out story and the impact that has had on herself, her family. Megan opens up about the guilt she has felt about how her coming out has impacted those around her, particularly her family. We also talk about how even though on the outside, it may look like someone has "the perfect gay life" that may not always be the case, and why there is such a need for community, for connection & ultimately, the ability to sit, listen & be therefore someone, no matter what. It was such a great conversation, filled with amazing nuggets & lots of laughter.
As always, I'm grateful to Megan for opening up & sharing her story! To continue to follow Megan on her journey, find her on her website at http://www.outwhatnow.comhttp://www.facebook.com/livingheadfirst or on Instagram at @LiveHeadfirst and @outwhatnowpodcast.
