  • Ep. 39: The Power In Owning Your Vulnerability: A conversation with Katie Allen

You know those people you meet who you instantly want to become friends with them? That was how I felt when I first met Katie, and in each conversation since, I've learned so much. She is a force to be reckoned with and is all around a badass human who is using her superpower of vulnerability to help others. In our conversation, Katie is raw, real & vulnerable about all the things - quarantine life,  the ups & downs of looking inward & trusting yourself, to breaking stigmas.

    More about Katie:

    Lipstick Fanatic. Podcaster. Mom

Katie’s mission today is to receive and experience joy daily, but it wasn’t always that way.

One day, exasperated, Katie found herself grappling with the fact that she had been putting so much energy into taking care of everyone (and everything) around her, that she had forgotten what brought her joy. Not only did she lose track of her passions, she didn’t even know how to find them again.

Through her journey of self-reflection, Katie realized when she loved herself first everyone around her benefited. This inspired her to become an advocate for other women to find self-love, and her podcast was born.

She promised herself she would show up on the good days and bad to share her story of transforming from the burnt-out, depressed, overwhelmed mother she was to the newly found, lipstick-loving, vulnerable force she was created to be.

Now she wants to help other women do the same.

I hope you enjoy our conversation!

    xoxo, Jessi

  • Ep 37: MyTruthTuesday: Give Yourself Persmission

For this #MyTruthTuesday, I go deeper in some moments where I've recognized I am suppressing my emotions, building up walls and share lessons I've learned from doing so. Most importantly, I share the mantra that keeps running through my head recently....Give yourself permission. Give yourself permission. It bears repeating because how many of us stop ourselves, build up walls, suppress emotions, before we give ourselves permission to feel?! I know I do!

  • Ep. 35: My Truth Tuesday: When I finally admitted I was unhappy

Today I shared the moment. The moment when I was finally raw & honest with myself and my husband that I was no longer happy. As women, and especially moms (especially moms who struggled with infertility!) we often don't allow ourselves to admit when we're not happy. Why is that? I explore my own beliefs and how I worked through some of them.

    I hope you enjoy!

  • Episode 34: Layers of Confidence: A Conversation with Anastasia Washington

Today I chat with Anastasia Washington who shares her story of how her anxiety manifested in an eating disorder.  But at the heart of our conversation we talk about layers. We all have layers to ourselves, our emotions & how we internalize & externalize what's happening around us. When we can understand that about each other (and ourselves!) perhaps we can all be a bit more empathetic to one another.

You can follow Anastasia on her journey at https://www.anastasiawashington.com/ or listen to her (hilarious!) podcast Cereal Killer or follow her on Instagram at https://www.instagram.com/anastasiawash/.

  • Episode 32: Find Your Voice. Speak Your Truth: A Conversation with Elissa Weinzimmer

Today I am so excited to share my conversation with Elissa Weinzimmer. I think most of us can relate to the notion of losing our voice...most of us metaphorically. Elissa's journey is one of a literal loss of voice and what that meant to her identity. She and I are on similar missions to create safe spaces where you can talk about things you don't talk about anywhere else.

More about Elissa: Elissa Weinzimmer is Founder of Voice Body Connection, empowering speakers and singers to have healthy, powerful voices. She has been a voice and presence coach since 2011. Through her courses and podcast, she has helped thousands of students to find their voice and speak their truth. Elissa has coached for ebay, WeWork, and Equinox, and lives in New York City with her sweet pup Ernie.

To follow Elissa on her journey find her at https://www.voicebodyconnection.com/.

  • Ep. 31: My Truth Tuesday: Have you ever felt like you've lost yourself?

In today's #MyTruthTuesday, I talk about a recent conversation with a friend where we discussed how sharing & listening to other's stories can be polarizing and how our brains start to create judgements about our own moments and how they stack up (or don't). I get it. I do it too. But what I've realized is that despite our moments of truth/stories may be bigger or smaller than someone's else's when you're not sharing your truth, you're not honoring yourself. In reflecting on that conversation, I realized that there while I can't pinpoint the specific moment where I began to lose myself, I share a story about one of the moments, when I realized that as a woman, I didn't even realize that I had unconsciously (or was it consciously?) started to lose myself and how I learned how to claw my way back.

    I hope you enjoy!

  • Episode 30: Looking Inward Drives Outward Success: A conversation with Chelsea Riffe

Today I have a conversation with Chelsea Riffe, and I have to say, I think I have a girl crush. Not only do we share a love of Chicago, but Chelsea was raw, real & honest...all things I love in a good conversation. In our conversation, Chelsea shares her truth, which is that looking inward drives outward success. She shares her journey in making the decision to leave her well paid corporate job & move to Australia for a year to explore herself & the world. During her journey she experienced judgement & shame, but it was through looking inwards & doing the inner work that Chelsea found herself again. For anyone who has ever said to themselves...."maybe in another life" or "wouldn't it be nice" you need to listen to this conversation.

You can follow Chelsea on her journey via her podcast "In My Non Expert Opinion," on Instagram at @nonexpertopinionpod or @chelseariffe or her website www.inmynonexpertopinion.com.
