Roll out the red carpets because it's time for a brand new awards show. With the Spring 2020 season officially coming to a close this week, Nick and Cory are unveiling their first ever This Just Anime! awards episode. We have some well known categories to cover all of our favorite and least favorite titles this season as well as a few categories that you're guaranteed never to see anywhere else.  These awards are all in the name of fun, but its a great way to recap a really solid anime season before gearing up for the wild action packed thrill ride that is the summer season. With a ton of titles from this season coming to an end either this week or next, we felt it appropriate to look to the horizon and discuss a few promising shows slated for summer 2020 as well as those returning to production since being delayed due to covid 19. After that it's a double feature on the penultimate episode of the season for Tower of God and Gleipnir. We're talking shocking twists so definite spoiler warning for those two series if you are not up to date, also potential trigger warning, Gleipnir in particular this week deals with themes of suicide and other heavy topics. After that we determine whether My Next Life as a Villainess and Kakushigoto got the ending they deserved. And finally we tease next week's super badass end of the season awards cast, so you have that to look forward to. This week we put out the rainbow flags and celebrate pride month. We have a discussion about how representation for the LGBTQIA+ community is lacking but gradually improving, and showing hope for the future. We highlight a selection of recent titles that will get you feeling the pride spirit and just show some support for our friends in the queer community. From there we deep dive into the bizarre delight that is Dorohedoro, the most recent show in a lineup of serious heat appearing on Netflix. Lastly Nick and Cory play a game of anime themed would you rather in a segment called "The Isekai Life For Me". We're nearing the end of the current season which means it's an especially good time to take a look at the current power rankings over at thisjustanimepodcast.com since we'll be starting to wrap up the season in the next couple of weeks.
