Thought For Today

Many years ago, my wife, Jill and I, had a little Christian coffee bar in Greytown. We used to meet every Friday night with all the young people in the town - It was a wonderful time.

We must not be frivolous in these times. Frivolous means to be superficial and carefree. To just let it go and not consider what you are saying. People are suffering everywhere. People are nervous, fearful and are extremely sensitive. You and I need to count to ten before we say something and then we won’t say it.

When we pray, it is not about the length of the prayer, or about the repetition that counts. God is wanting simple prayer, He is wanting reverent prayer...

I read a story about Alexander the Great. He conquered the known world in those days, he was a mighty general. He was in the field inspecting a field hospital where some of his soldiers were wounded. Some had lost arms, some legs... He walked down the passage, addressing them...

Maybe you are listening to this message and are feeling that way today. Remember the old hymn “Trust and obey, for there is no other way to be happy in Jesus than to trust and obey.”

We must walk the talk. We must hold the course... You and I must not deviate to the left nor the right. I was watching the Olympic Games and I was watching those gymnasts. I love to see the absolute focus and discipline these young men and women have, is quite superb.

What are you trusting the Lord for today? You see, any doctor will tell you it is impossible for a woman to fall pregnant without knowing a man. What about that 90-year-old woman conceiving and having a beautiful baby? Her husband was 100 years old...

Many years ago, I used to do weight-lifting. When we came into the gym and we wanted to greet each other, we never shook hands. I used to take a hold of that muscle on his shoulder and determining the thickness of that muscle, would tell me how strong my opponent was!
