When the season starts to turn toward the longer nights and shorter days, we choose to battle back with some musical "medicare." This episode splits down a couple of pathways. Jerry leans into the songs that most dealt with references to the fall season, BillyBobb not so much. Instead, he chose to pick all of his favorite songs that incorporate the word "MOON" in the title or the content. Still, in all, it has made for a great podcast. One in which we think everyone can find a smile.

We borrowed the title from some traditional music (thank you Jery Garcia and friends), but the title tells the story. This month's episode features tunes that deal with the prognosis of aging at various stages in life. When we are younger, the songs are about the great possibilities of life. As we age, the story becomes less about the end of the trip and more about the journey itself. In an unscheduled fashion, we will be dropping episodes that zero in on some of the specific musicians that pop up around the Des Moines music scene. We are calling these special shows, Des Moines Deep Dives.

On our maiden voyage, we sat and spoke with Anne and Dave Ducharme-Jones about their backstory and their music. Along the way, we gained more insight into some of the work they have done behind-the-scenes to help Des Moines become such a vibrant live music scene.

So here we are some 60 years later still looking for the driving beat that sent us out "dancin' in the streets" those many years ago. We have all gone through various phases in our graduated taste for music. For some of us, there was no greater classroom than the sounds wafting in and out of the open doorways in our residence halls at college. Our ears were opened to new sounds and our collective souls were lifted to a different level of appreciation. So return with us to those thrilling days of yesteryear as the boys take you into the soundtrack of their college experience.
