  • Letting Go of What's No Longer Serving You EP56

Join the DO THE THING RETREAT BY CLICKING HERE

Hey Podsters, let's talk about letting go of what is no longer serving you. Beliefs, habits, stories, and even people.   When you let go of one thing, you are making room for another.  Creating space to do what’s best for you.  Engineering the life you want.

In fact, holding on to what is not in your best interest is oftentimes the root cause for you feeling stuck, stagnant, or that awful feeling that you are settling for average.  And remember, we don’t do average.
Often time we hold on to what is no longer serving us because of the risk of letting go.  What’s worse?  The risk of staying the same and living with regret? Or the risk of letting go so you can do the thing?
YOU KNOW WHAT IS BEST FOR YOU.
Habits and beliefs feel familiar, like we're in control, but are we really?  If we are letting these beliefs, habits, thoughts, or people hold us back – we are not controlling anything.
Today’s call to action is to simply be aware.  Be aware of when your thoughts are limiting your future.  Aware when you are with someone who is draining your energy.  This awareness will eventually bring change.  The change you know you need.  The change you know you want.  And the change you know will bring you closer to what’s waiting for you on the other side of your fear.
Get ready, Podseters, to let go of the things and people who are holding you back.

  • How to Do the Thing: Overcoming Limiting Beliefs and Taking Action (Happy 1 Year Podiversary) EP55

Join the DO THE THING RETREAT BY CLICKING HERE

Happy One Year Podiversary, Podsters. This is so exciting for us!  Who knew when we started this podcast one year ago, we would end up in 40 countries and in the top 25%? WE DID THE THING!

Why do so many people hold themselves back from doing the thing? Some wait for the right moment; you know, that morning they wake up and are struck by a lightning bolt. Others think about something for weeks or months until something or someone pushes them over the edge. Sadly, some people never DO THE THING and end up living in regret.

There are many reasons why people don’t DO THE THING and at the top of that list is allowing other people's opinions to influence their actions. This impacts your ability to show up for yourself and will almost always spiral into self-doubt. What if we flip that switch from self-doubt to self-exploration?

So Podsters, how do we go about taking charge and doing the thing?

    You’ve got to D.O. I.T.

    • Determine The Thing

    • Own Your Why

    • Invest in Your Vision

    • Tactical Plan

    • DOING THE THING is not reserved for the lucky, the chosen or the “other people”. You have every right to DO THE THING and step into the life you know is waiting for your on the other side of your fears.

Today, right this minute - you can decide to DO THE THING and today we’re showing you how. After you have a listen, we’d love to hear what you’re going to do!

Send us your THING, feedback, topics you'd like us to cover, and of course, rave reviews of how the podcast is going. Here's how to reach us:

Kind truth bomb Podsters - not everyone will like you, and that's okay.

Is your fear of being judged or even worse - not being liked, holding you back?

Women in leadership face unique challenges; particularly when it comes to difficult conversations.   For many of us, this is when the stories we’ve been told (remember the baggage episode?) become louder and cause us to doubt ourselves.

Am I being too tough? Too easy?  Will they think I’m a shrew?

Many times, women will try to tamp down their emotional intelligence or “act more like a man” when delivering bad news or when negotiating - and this will almost always backfire.  The converse is when we will overcompensate, or over-empathize and confuse the issue at hand.

      So what’s the answer?

Clear and kind will always win and today’s episode provides clear, kind, and confident scripts and tactics to be unapologetically who you are; in any situation

    • The Unfiltered Truth About Tall Poppy Syndrome: What These Feelings of Envy and Comparison are Telling Us EP52

Have you heard the latest buzz term called "Tall Poppy Syndrome"? This is when people are ridiculed, undermined, or “cut down” because they have achieved greater success than their peers. Poppies are supposed to all grow together, uniformly and the “tall poppy” gets cut down to remain at the same level of growth as the others. I’m sure you already know how we feel about this concept!

Can we really call this phenomenon a syndrome? NO! This is a concept and an action based on feelings aaaaaaand….feelings are not facts.

Tall Poppy is about envy, jealousy, and coveting. The next time you’re feeling any of these – take a step back because this is telling you a lot about how you view yourself and where you think you’re falling short of your own ambitions. Then think about what the person you are envying had to do to get there and ask yourself the tough question – am I willing to do what it takes to get to that same level?

However, we choose to define success - there’s enough out there for everyone and we suggest that each poppy can and should grow at their own pace.

And remember…that tall poppy gets the most sun!

    • Boundaries With The Boundary Boss EP50

Hold onto your hats, Podsters, our guest Barb Nangle is about to rock your world with her boundary wisdom.

We are always showing people how to treat us by either setting or not setting boundaries for ourselves. If you're just starting to set healthy boundaries - or as Barb refers to them, standards - know that it's an exploration into what you do and do not want. Setting boundaries is a choice, although that choice may not be fun, it may be the right way to take care of your needs. And when you choose to take care of your needs, you can live a life of freedom, peace, and serenity.

    • Isms, Syndromes, and media-inspired "trends" in the workplace: ENOUGH already!! EP48

It seems every professional challenge gets a special label these days - quiet quitting, quiet firing, the great resignation, the great reinvention, the great re-evaluation, and now.... resenteeism. Not to mention Imposter Syndrome. What??

The media thrives on sensationalizing everything and manipulating an audience still raw from the past three years. We call BS!

These labels are simply life - the difficult spots you have to navigate whether you slap a title on them or not.

Join us as we discuss why people are drawn to these labels and how you can deal with them, either as a bystander or as someone dealing with one or more of these difficult situations. Situations. Not syndromes.

    • Waiting for the Shoe to Drop and How to Embrace Joy EP47

"I don't want to jinx myself". "Oh it's not that big of a deal". "Thank you, I'm not sure how long it will last". Sound familiar?

You've said it, we've said it and the sad part is - we will continue to have these self-defeating thoughts rather than truly embrace the joy in our lives.

Why do we hold ourselves back? Why do we think that something bad must be coming after something good? That trepidation you are feeling is a basic human emotion. Fear.

Fear of losing what we have gained. Fear of being judged for our success. Fear that the joy we are feeling is temporary and will be followed by pain or loss.

To fully experience joy we must be vulnerable. We must be present. And we must remember that everything is temporary.
