You might even find that what you’re already doing is affirmed. The first woman I want to talk about is my incredible mom. She’s my best friend, my hero, and an absolutely phenomenal leader in every single way. When I think of a leading lady or an extraordinary woman who knows how to overcome obstacles and heartache, I think of my mom. She’s the reason that I’m the woman who I am today.

Next up is my best friend Kim. She’s been there for me ever since I can remember, encouraging me and telling the truth. I’ll never forget the moment that I walked out of the hospital doors as my mom was being wheeled into surgery for her cancer, and unexpectedly saw Kim waiting there for me with open arms.

Barbara McCoo-Lewis is another amazing woman who I’ve been blessed to have in my life. She has done so much not only for me, but also for women all over the country. Speaking of amazing leading ladies, I can’t possibly leave First Lady Mae Lawrence Blake off the list! She’s a classy, phenomenal woman and a true leading lady.

I’d also like to take a moment to honor the kind, loving, real, genuine, open, wonderful Joanne Miller. She’s an artist, painter, mother, coach, and leader, as well as the author of the book Creating a Haven of Peace.

My big sister has always listened to me and been there for me. She’s the big sister who every baby sister would want. But keep in mind that the leading ladies who have impacted your life don’t need to be women you’ve met. Michelle Obama is absolutely one of the ladies who have impacted me, but I haven’t yet had the honor of meeting her. It’s so important for you to understand that you don’t need to run yourself into the ground trying to be successful. It’s okay to rest and feel refreshed! Tune into this episode to learn some very practical ways that you can prevent burnout as a successful leading lady.

I recently read In the Grip of Grace by Max Lucado. What I loved about this book is that it makes clear that you will never be called upon to give anyone more grace than God has already given you. Isn’t that powerful? As a high-achieving leading lady, you love to get things done and have accomplishment running through your veins. But remember that God’s love for you isn’t based on your wins or accomplishments. It’s there simply because he loves us.

What this means is that it’s okay to slow down. Life is full of fumbles and stumbles, Max points out, and it’s okay to take care of yourself and stop pushing. You can fall into the endless, refreshing grace of God. Imagine being love-driven instead of self-propelled! This is what can happen when you abandon your life to Jesus.

In this episode, I’ll explore the amazing stories that were shared in response! Edwin, a cancer survivor, talks about how much various acts of kindness meant during his sickness. Teresa shares how meaningful a friend’s message was. Another listener stayed in a friend’s house for years while battling cancer, while another shares a touching story about her late husband and a famous singer.

While some of these stories are deeply meaningful expressions of gratitude for kindness given during times of struggle, others are simply about the little things that make every day brighter! Tanya, for example, talks about a coworker who gave her enough yogurt for breakfast each day this week. Isn’t that great? It’s not only the big things that matter; every act of kindness is a chance for gratitude and appreciation.

I’ll wrap up the episode with two stories about experiences of my own involving intentional love. It was a powerful reminder for me of what can happen when you listen to the Holy Spirit. Has your life ever been interrupted by a tragedy or something that you didn’t see coming? Surprisingly, the most trying seasons of your life can turn out to be your biggest blessings in disguise. 

This is something I learned while I was caring for my mom as she went through chemo. The process helped me to get clearer in my business and life than ever before. As you listen to today’s episode, you’ll hear something I wrote called “The Little Box of Prayers.” I’ll share some of my distinct memories from that time, and talk about some of the helpful, generous-hearted people who God put in my path when I needed them most.

As my mom left the hospital, the doctors and nurses gave her a standing ovation and thanked her. Even in her weakness, my mom was strong enough to encourage others. Isn’t that incredible? That’s something I believe we all need to take to heart. Even when we don’t feel like putting one foot in front of the other, there’s something deep down inside of you that will help you persist and use my gifts to God’s glory and to encourage other people.

My business grew incredibly during that time of honestly sharing about what I was going through. My email list grew, and I got amazing followers who are still with me today. I learned that you never know what sharing authentically and transparently will do not only for you, but also for those who look up to you.

I want to encourage you to be in awe of God’s glory and to stop to notice and appreciate the little things. What can you be in awe of today? We often ask God to change our situation, but he may be using our situation to change us. So rest in the grip of God’s grace, knowing that when He interrupts your life, it’s for a good reason.

The Entrepreneurial Family Man

Has your life ever been interrupted by a tragedy or something that you didn’t see coming? Surprisingly, the most trying seasons of your life can turn out to be your biggest blessings in disguise. 

This is something I learned while I was caring for my mom as she went through chemo. The process helped me to get clearer in my business and life than ever before. As you listen to today’s episode, you’ll hear something I wrote called “The Little Box of Prayers.” I’ll share some of my distinct memories from that time, and talk about some of the helpful, generous-hearted people who God put in my path when I needed them most.

As my mom left the hospital, the doctors and nurses gave her a standing ovation and thanked her. Even in her weakness, my mom was strong enough to encourage others. Isn’t that incredible? That’s something I believe we all need to take to heart. Even when we don’t feel like putting one foot in front of the other, there’s something deep down inside of you that will help you persist and use my gifts to God’s glory and to encourage other people.

My business grew incredibly during that time of honestly sharing about what I was going through. My email list grew, and I got amazing followers who are still with me today. I learned that you never know what sharing authentically and transparently will do not only for you, but also for those who look up to you.

I want to encourage you to be in awe of God’s glory and to stop to notice and appreciate the little things. What can you be in awe of today? We often ask God to change our situation, but he may be using our situation to change us. So rest in the grip of God’s grace, knowing that when He interrupts your life, it’s for a good reason.
