This week on Tide Chasers Podcast, we host Captain Joe Diorio (@joe.diorio.guide.service) or as we like to call him Captain BABOOM! Joe is first and foremost a family man, but when he is not with the family, he is fishing non-stop! Joe starts by telling us about his booming guide service and throws in an anecdote of how his obsession with albies got him fired from one of his previous jobs. His bread and butter is monster blues and striped bass in the Connecticut river and Block Island. He is one of the few guides that puts 50-pounders consistently on the boat for his clients. Joe also uniquely runs one of the only catch and release guide services for striped bass – kudos to him for preserving the striper community!
Sprinkle in his love for albies, tuna and his special, maybe cheating (…only kidding Joe), trout fishing and guiding on the Farmington River, this is an episode chalked full of info from fresh to salt. We got so caught up in Joe’s charisma, confidence, and fishing advice, that we lost track of time and our filters this episode (one of our longest episodes yet and it is certainly rated adult)! Tune in to hear it all unfold!

This week, we have the privilege of sitting down with Joe Pinto, of Delco Tackle-right here in the city of brotherly love, Philadelphia. As the spring striper run starts, some anglers don’t realize that we have a solid run that begins right here on the Delaware River. Joe caters to the “river rats”. He stocks all the baits needed to target these stripers as they head up the river for prespawn. We got the opportunity to talk about his catch and release tournament that helps promote the proper way to measure, photograph, and handle stripers for a healthy release. He even gives out some helpful tips and tricks to help you land your first Delaware River striper. Remember to tune in tomorrow on @tide_chasers podcast

This week on Tide Chasers Podcast, we host the one and only Nick Honachefsky (@nickhonachefsky) of the TV show Saltwater Underground (@sportsmanchannel @waypointsalt). Nick has spent his entire life in the fishing industry as an independent writer, TV host, and seminar speaker helping people understand and catch more fish. Nick takes us through his journey of how he became the star he is today, offering advice to anyone trying to break into the industry. We get the juicy details on the current NJ striper run status and a glimpse at his new (or rather old) obsession with “Jersey exotics.”
I will warn all the listeners, usually we would tell you to turn up the volume but Nicks passion is unlike anyone’s in the industry. His audio could not handle some moments as we discuss his family friendly Barrier Island Beach brawl and some hilarious stories involved in the making of his show. And how could we not ask about his garbage fish world record catch! Tune in, get some insights, and stories on what makes the fishing legend the man he is today!

This week on Tide Chasers Podcast, we host Sam Scott of @blueridgemusky and owner of the @jamesriveroutfitter, the only musky specific tackle store in Virginia and maybe the world? Needless to say, we talk about his favorite species of all time; the elusive fish of 10,000 casts, the muskellunge. We talk with Sam about his new store, musky tips, tricks, and do’s and don’ts for bringing that casting ratio down. For Sam and his clients, they are the fish of only 200-300 casts, so I think he knows his stuff!
In his free time, well, Sam fishes of course! When not targeting muskies, he’s chasing smallies or looking for gar on the fly. And if he’s not on the water somewhere, he is writing for his monthly column in @woodsnwaters magazine. Come listen as we discuss the incredible fishery that the James River has to offer.

This week on Tide Chasers Podcast, we host Christian Palmisano of @seascrapsalvage and captain of @kneedeepsportfishing. Christian has spent the majority of his life living at the Jersey shore targeting a multitude of inshore species (fluke, stripers, weakfish, etc). However, over the years, this has transitioned farther and farther offshore mastering the elusive bluefin tuna, yellowfin tuna, and even swordfish right off the Jersey coast. We discuss techniques to target the upcoming striper migration and proper techniques for getting into the tuna game amongst many memorable trips.
When he’s not on the water, Christian spends his time designing incredible pieces from reclaimed wood found washed up on the beach, construction sites, and even in the trash. You really have to check out his Instagram (@seascrapsalvage) to truly appreciate what Christian can do with some scrapes of degraded wood. Come listen as we discuss the process and his creative ability along with his passion for fishing!
