The last one of 2023 and it's a cracker, with the fantastic MC Tunes, what a life!

Nicky Lockett AKA MC Tunes has been through the ringer, he's cheated death multiple times and the music industry has cheated him just as much!

The Manchester rapper has worked with 808 State and A Guy Called Gerald and more recently guested on Shed Project's 'One Shot'

He fronted Dust Junkeys and his solo album 'Damage by Stereo' originally recorded in 1991 was finally released in 2015 on Peter Hook's Hacienda Records

With sheer determination and a will to succeed he has picked himself up again and again and he's here today to tell the tale, this was probably one of my most enjoyable episodes to record, a genuine top bloke with so much energy, i know you're all gonna love this!!!

Wow! What a legend!!! Jim Gellatly is the next guest on the podcast, a proper hero, Jim has championed new music in his career as a radio presenter that has spanned four decades!

Former presenter of XFM Scotland’s Drivetime show, and hosting a weekly unsigned showcase on Amazing Radio (Digital Radio in Dublin and London & online) and also hosts Breakfast on BFBS Radio, Jim’s a well-known face (for the radio?) in the Scottish music scene and beyond.

Dundee-born Jim Gellatly started his presenting career at MFR in Inverness over 20 years ago. Also working for Northsound 1, Beat 106, BBC Radio Scotland and the networked New Music show In:Demand Uncut (Bauer Radio), Jim’s played a role in uncovering many of the most important bands around, including Oasis, Snow Patrol and Coldplay.

The first person to play the likes of Biffy Clyro, The Fratellis, Twin Atlantic, Amy Macdonald and KT Tunstall on the radio, Coventry’s The Enemy have also credited Jim on several occasions for picking up on them while still unsigned.

In April 2008, at the O2 in London, he was presented with the Radio Academy’s ‘John Peel Award for contribution to Music Radio’. Previous winners include Kenny Everett, Richard Park, Alan Freeman, Tony Blackburn, Steve Wright, Pete Tong, Chris Tarrant and John Peel himself (the award was renamed after his death).

His regular ‘Jim Gellatly’s NEW MUSIC’ podcast was nominated as “Best Podcast or Radio Show” at the 2010 BT Digital Music Awards. In 2012 he was nominated at the prestigious Music Week Awards for his In:Demand Uncut show.

As well as talking about the upcoming album we also spoke in great detail about the politics surrounding the conflict in Gaza, Declan has spoke out on numerous occasions on the subject, none more so than in the summer when he had the attention of the audience at TRNSMT where he gave a speech which went viral and you can view here Declan Welsh quoted Mandela and showed support for Palestine at TRNSMT in Glasgow over the weekend. - YouTube

So after finishing Season 1 with the fantastic Kieren Webster I thought I'd get the rest of the lads on, might need to wait a bit for Kyle but here's my chat with Pete.

As well as being a founding member of The View, since the band's hiatus, Pete has also became a touring member of Echo And The Bunnymen.

I spoke to Pete in-between The View comeback shows and going on tour with The Bunnymen and we chatted about juggling the two bands as well as his career highlights, a few listeners questions and also the time he shared a dressing room with the 'King of Kings'
