On today's edition of the Locked On FLORIDA Panthers Podcast, Armando Velez(@Mandoman12) brought in Jacob Winans(@JacobWinans8) for another edition of Winans Wednesday, as the two break down the Panthers' 6-2 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 1 of the first round. After a tight first period where the game was tied at one, the Panthers went into the second period with a lead, and then the Panthers put the pedal to the medal in the second period, scoring three goals on three consecutive shots, including one on the power play off a failed challenge by the Lightning. Matthew Tkachuk made his return to the lineup for the first time since going down in the Four Nations Face-Off, and was the most noticeable player on the ice, getting two goals and an asisst on the evening. Panthers were living in the blue paint the entirety of the evening, and took the eyes away from Andrei Vasilevskiy, along with getting their chances off deflections with six goals on 16 shots. Nate Schmidt became the second Panthers defenseman to get a multi-goal game in the postseason (Brandon Montour was the other), including the Panthewrs first PPG by a Defenseman this season. Florida was able to also manage the minutes after it was 5-1 where no forwards got up to 20 minutes. The guys give their three stars of the game, when they knew the game was won, and discuss how Mackie Samoskevich looked in his first ever playoff game.
