This episode we take a look at the latest film from one of the great filmmakers of all time.  It has recently dropped to streaming and it is a story that neither of us knew very little about.  The movie is overly long, but is masterfully made.  The fact that it is based on a true story makes it all the more compelling.

Instead of discussing a single movie, we decided to take a look at films that are expected to release  in the upcoming year.  We found a list that was a couple hundred deep, so we just chose to go down the list for a bit and end up where we ended up.  Unfortunately, it looks like the theme of sequels and reboots is continuing, but there are some very intriguing flicks coming out.

This episode we decided to go back to the theaters and see a couple new releases.  The first was an origin story to a classic children's movie and the other is a slow burn indie thriller.  The children's movie is very colorful with several song and dance numbers.  The indie film is dark and very methodical.

This episode we discuss two movies: one just being released on streaming and the other is a Christmas rom com.  The first is a movie about a family whose father is hiding his past, and the second is about a couple who is trying to avoid spending Christmas with their families.  Both films are good enough, but neither one of them try to reinvent the wheel.

Since we are nearing Christmas, it only made sense to watch a Christmas movie or two.  We have previously discussed doing a Hallmark movie at some point and they have a pretty deep bench of holiday movies, so we thought it was the perfect time to take a look at one.  There was also the third movie of a trilogy on Netflix that we haven't finished yet which also focuses on Christmas, so we decided to do two movies on this episode.

This episode we discuss a book character that is represented in two movies and a streaming show. The actor is changed between the movies and the show and the differences between the two could not be bigger.  All three are pretty solid but we were in agreement that the show was superior.  A second season of the show is set to drop in the middle of December.

Since we are nearing Halloween, it only made sense to do a horror film.  Both of us really like this anthology franchise so we decided to do the newest edition to the series.  Each movie in the series has a unique way of connecting the individual stories, and this one is no different.  Like most anthologies, there are some high notes, and some lows.  While not the best entry, there are still some strong segments in this film.

This episode we decided to take a break from going backward and go back to the beginning of our year in review series.  When we started, we were only looking at five movies per year.  It wasn't until later on that we realized that we could have had discussed more movies, so we went back and picked five more movies from each year.  The end of this episode gets pretty rushed and pretty sloppy.

This episode we decided to start up another franchise, so we will now have two going simultaneously.  The first movie in the series is probably one of the more important horror films of the '90s and influenced movies for the next decade.  It appears it was supposed to be a one and done flick, but because of the success it had they ended up making 5 more, with at least one more still to come.

This episode we discuss two original Hulu comedies.  While Hulu isn't known for their original content, especially films, these two were enjoyable.  The first is far and away better, but that is not unique for sequels, specifically comedies.  They are lead by two strong comedic actors with a well rounded supporting cast.  The second film tries to shoehorn in a bit more action than comedy which makes it suffer a bit.  Overall, we believe that both films are worth a watch.
