This episode we take a look at a classic comedy movie.  The reason we decided to discuss this film is explained in the episode.  The flick will most certainly make our year in review list for 1978, but it made perfect sense to talk about it now.  Even though it is an older film, it still holds up very well.  Even though we were drinking for the podcast, we were being affected a bit more by something different.

We wanted to try something different, so we decided to look at a documentary film.  In order to keep the episode on brand, we wanted a documentary that focused on the movie industry.  There were a lot of docs about specific films or genres, but we wanted to take a look at the history of the industry, and we found one.  There was a lot of information that we didn't know before, but it will be pretty obvious why this film was made and why we decided to discuss it.

We decided to try something a little different this episode.  Instead of picking a single movie to discuss, we each chose a different film from a specific year to watch separately and then explain it to each other.  The year we chose was 2009 and we picked two very different type of movies.  The first is a drama taking place in an all girls boarding school in the 30's while the second is a sci-fi action film that feels like a superhero movie.

This episode we take a look at a movie that is absurd on its face but actually turns out to be pretty fun.  They claim the film is based on a true story, but that is a bit of a stretch.  Even claiming that it's loosely based on a true story is hard to believe.  All that being said the flick is over the top gory and more fun than it has any right to be.

This episode we take a look at a movie that just recently dropped.  It is a video game movie, but not a typical one.  This isn't a movie based on a game, it is a movie based on the acquisition of the rights to the game.  The film was greatly exaggerated, which adds to the drama and excitement, otherwise it would have been a movie completely taking place in board rooms.  You wouldn't necessary think a movie based on this topic would be interesting, but it is surprisingly enjoyable.

We decided to take a break from going backwards and take a look at the movies from last year.  Overall it was a very good year for film with some very unique visions and not too many sequels or remakes.  This is one of the longer episodes we have done, so the ending does get a little disjointed.

This episode we discuss a movie that when the original trailer dropped, most people thought it was a joke.  It turns out that not only is the movie real, but we thought it was better than it had any right to be.  Some people will hate it because it destroys an aspect of their childhood and some won't like it because it is a prototypical slasher film.  As we constantly say, a bad horror film can still be a fun flick.

The 2023 Academy Awards have come and gone, so we naturally had to not only choose our predictions, but we also had to discuss the red carpet.  Who doesn't want to listen to two guys who know nothing about fashion get drunk and discuss the outfits that are worn.  The ending is a little rough, but they are always fun to do.

As we always do, we have made our predictions of the winners of the Academy Awards.  We only had two people on mic, but we have four people making predictions.  This year turned out to be a pretty interesting one.  There was quite a bit of crossover in our selections, and we will have to see who came out on top.

It has been quite a while, but we have returned to one of the biggest franchises in cinema history.  This is the first movie of the series that I had not seen previously, while my cohost has not only seen the movie, but also is well versed in the book itself.  We do talk about the movie, but the majority of the episode is me asking questions to someone with more knowledge about the story and world in which it takes place.
