Every year, seaside towns in France organize Christmas swims where people, young and old alike, challenge each other to enter very cold water. Some find the experience easy, others less so, but everyone always has fun.

    Christmas Swim
It’s an amazing tidal wave, a dive with Santa, done by about a hundred nuts. The temperature is far from Lapland’s. (On the temperature side, we are far from Lapland.)
[3 women give us their impressions of the water: some find it nice, others cold …]
I didn’t want to miss the Christmas swim. I’m Finnish, I’ve lived here for 25 years, so I’m going. The water is nice, even hot, like in the summer in Finland.
    Well, it’s cold,

    60 Santas
Michel Dabou, a now-retired former farmer, continues to bring agricultural machines to life by putting Santa Claus on stage. He takes out about sixty Santas every year in his yard.
People who come to visit his show sometimes have a cup of coffee with him, and leave him a tip, which allows Michel to pay for his electricity.

    In English
    60 Santas
In the Mayenne countryside, this garden is home to 60 Santa Claus.
[Michel Dabou leaves his home and the journalist adds him to the list to make 61 Santas]
    Or rather, 61.
    This is Santa’s house, uh.
All these little guys in red are not idle, They work the land with old agricultural machinery found at scrap metal dealers. Enough to revive Michel Dabou’s memory, 71 years old.
I was (sic) a former farmer, eh, and that’s why I do this.
The man has been decorating his garden for 15 years now. Every winter he has to find new ideas.
Next year there will be Santa Claus with chainsaws.
    It’s my pleasure.
I present to you the manger with the, the, the Christmas carol, there you go.
And not just any nursery: it resonates throughout the hamlet.
    [ The music ]
And it catches the eye of curious motorists.
