Caresser un animal m’aide à me détendre.
    In English
    Traveling with an Animal
His name is Wally. 5 feet-long for 83 teeth, this alligator doesn’t live in a Florida swamps, but in this house in Pennsylvania with his master Joe Hanny (Sp?).
Wally, as gentle as a lamb, makes his master feel very good.
[Joe explains why and how he adopted Wally]
He comforts me, he helped me out of my depression. I lost three loved ones in a week, two in 24 hours. One day, I was lying on the sofa, and he came over to rest his head against mine.
Wally is officially registered as an “emotional support animal” just like a dog could be.
Jodis Molley. After several traumas, traveling by plane is complicated for her. So, that day, she leaves with Easter, her emotional support turkey.
The airline employees can’t object: she has the necessary certifications. Easter goes through security checks and gets on board as if it had always done this.

  • Merry Month of May
    Merveilleux mois de mai
Part of French Culture | French Merry Month of May

    Merry Month of May
May 1 is a national holiday. It is la fête du travail – Labor Day. May 8 also is a national holiday: fin de la 2ième guerre mondiale, the end of 2nd World War. And, as French holidays often follow the Catholic calendar, the next Thursday after May 8 (jeudi de l’Ascension) also is a holiday. And sometimes, to add to your pleasure, your company also decides to make le lundi de la Pentecôte (Whit Monday coming soon after) a holiday.
When a national holiday falls on a Thursday or a Tuesday, it is not unusual for French workers to also take the Friday or the Monday off, making it a 4-day weekend. It is called “faire le pont” – to make the bridge.
So ; let’s say May 1 is a Thursday. Most French workers will choose to take Friday, May 2 off. The next week is also a 3-day workweek, and so is the next one, because of Ascension. If Whit Monday comes soon after Ascension, one can get another 3-day weekend.

I think there are more (paid) holidays than workdays in a French month of May.
Wouldn’t you love to work in France?

On Thursday, my friends from Provence came to see us for a week. We did tons of nice things. We saw the temporary exhibit at the Beaubourg Museum, we rented a Vélib’, we sat outside at cafés and they bought postcards they sent right away. They insisted on showing us pictures of their farm, that became a beautiful piece of property after the work they had done. We walked in the noisy streets of Paris. They were supposed to leave in the afternoon, but I kept them for dinner the last evening so that they’d come back often.

Part of Level 1 | French Present Tense
–IR –  and –OIR – verbs in the present tense follow numerous patterns that can be learned by practicing a lot. That’s the only deal with conjugations in French. I don’t know of any other way to learn them. Practice, repeat, review.
This lesson walks you through the conjugation of verbs ending in –IR.

About Stems: You’ll see the word ‘STEM’ in this lesson. Sometimes, the stem is called the root or the beginning of a verb. In French the stem is ‘la racine’. It’s always good to know the stem of a verb, and it’s generally super easy to know what the stem is.

    * Ils choisissent la statuette. — They’re choosing the figurine.
    * Ils finissent leurs courses. — They’re finishing their errands.

The STEM is the infinitive verb without the ending. In our case, the endings are –IR or–OIR. As a result, the stem is: CHOIS(ir), FIN(ir)…

Most –IR verbs – Most verbs ending in –IR have the following endings added to the stem:
