Tom the Preacher

Are we supposed to take the Bible literally?
Is Genesis just a story telling us WHY God created the world or did God actually create the world just as it says?

Why do you worship God and for what do you praise Him?
One of the primary reasons given throughout Scripture for which we are to worship and praise God is that He is our Maker -- our Creator. But do you believe that? Our schools teach we simply got here by evolution -- a natural process that doesn't require God. What's the truth? Why's it matter?

How often do you think about mundane things, such as what you will eat or drink? Likewise, how often do you think about significant life events like marriage, graduations, retirement, etc?
My guess is that you think about these things much more than you think about the judgment to come. It's easy to do, but let's not make the same mistake the people of Noah's day made.
Join me for Today's Daily Word & Prayer to learn why and how to keep focused on the reality of God's coming Judgment.

At 249 years old, we have drifted far away from the original purpose for which our nation was founded. Whether this drift has been intentional or unintential can be argued, but the way in which it has undermined our nation's unity and vision is beyond dispture.

God desires His truth to reside in our "innermost being."  I hope that's your desire as well.
However, there's one big obstacle to His truth reigning in our heart / our innermost being.
What is that obstacle? It's us! God doesn't play second fiddle, and we're already occupying the throne of our heart. For God and His truth to reign in our hearts, we've got to abandon the preeminent place on that throne.

Do you connect emotionally with God's word?
Some believers don't, and sometimes we don't even think we're supposed to connect emotionally with the Scripture. After all, God's word is true, and since what's true is true, we wouldn't want to let our emotions get in the way of faithful obedience.
But while we don't want to be ruled by our emotions, I contend that if we never connect emotionally with the Word, we'll never truly get it into our innermost being.
