We can plan, dream, and set goals—but sometimes life reroutes us in ways we never expected. As tonight's devotional and prayer remind us, maybe it’s a job loss, a sudden diagnosis, or a detour that interrupts our carefully mapped-out future. These changes might surprise us, but they never surprise God.
Proverbs 16:9 reminds us of a key truth: we plan, but God establishes. His reroutes are not failures; they are redirections toward His purpose. Like a GPS recalculating when traffic blocks the road, God knows the best way to get us where we need to be—even if the path looks confusing or uncomfortable.
The Bible gives us story after story of this truth: Joseph’s dreams took him through betrayal and prison before the palace. Esther walked through hardship before God raised her up as queen. Jesus Himself faced the cross before redemption was fulfilled. Each detour was not wasted but woven into God’s greater plan.
So if your plans feel like they’ve collapsed, hold on to this hope: your dream isn’t dead, and your future isn’t lost. God’s plan is steady, and tomorrow belongs to Him.
Tonight’s Scripture: Proverbs 16:9
"In their hearts humans plan their course, but the Lord establishes their steps."

🙏 Your Nightly Prayer
Lord,
When my plans don’t unfold the way I expected, help me remember You are still in control. Replace my anxiety with trust, my fear with peace, and my uncertainty with confidence in Your purpose. Thank You that nothing surprises You and that You are already preparing the way ahead. Tonight, I release my future into Your hands, knowing that tomorrow belongs to You.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
🧘 Three Things to Meditate Upon
Life may surprise you, but nothing surprises God.
Detours aren’t the death of a dream—they’re often God’s redirection.
Shifting circumstances don’t shift God’s purposes for your life.
