She also tried to have her grandson Joash - the next heir to the Davidic dynasty - killed, but was not successful. His aunt Jehosheba - a daughter of King Jehoram - saved his life.)

Summary of this chapter: Do what is good. Don't get caught up with silly religious practices/theories that are made up. Don't get involved with religious endless arguments about theology-that-does-not-matter and is not of salvation importance. They expend inner energy and put one into a negative mind-set.

Wicked King Jehoram rules in Judah - but for only eight years. He killed all his brothers to secure his rule, but when he died no one honored him with a funeral fire. He was also not buried in the royal cemetery plot in the City of David along with the other deceased kings on account of his wicked deeds.

Promote right teaching. Older mature Christians mentor younger Christians. If a movement cannot reproduce its followers, then it will die out - and the statistics show that the youth are not attending church as before.

War with surrounding nations. Asking God for victory through prayer - and getting it without shots fired or casualties. Being reprimanded by a prophet - as a godly king representing God - not to form any more alliances with the Baal-worshiping kings from Israel (the northern kingdom; the 10 tribes). Such an alliance will not be blessed - and it was not. (Reminds me of the verses in Scriptures saying not to seek out marriage - or business relationships - with unbelievers if you are a Christian and holding firm in your principles (2 Corinthians 6:14) without expecting problems.
