  • Episode 30: TET's Vietnam Depiction

This week, Alan and Brooks review IDW's TET #1, a romance/crime thriller set in Vietnam War times. Both are quick to highlight the artwork in this first issue, and wonder how much more it'll stand out when the story evolves into wartime.

The two also talk efforts to get Jeff Lemire on the show, Nathan Edmondson's new Marvel title, Civil War, and a wealth of recent books (including John Flood, Fight Club 2, Broken World, We Are Robin, and Dead Drop).

     Next week's Debut Reviews:

    • The Paybacks
    • Tokyo Ghost

  • Episode 29: The BKV Conundrum

This week, Alan and Brooks review Image's Plutona #1 from Jeff Lemire and Emi Lenox. With that, the two speak about the troubles of launching multiple titles when one of your current books is the best on the shelf (we call it the Brian K. Vaughan Conundrum). Plutona seems like it can be good, but Descender has raised the bar on Lemire's work.

Speaking of, We Stand on Guard #3 released this week, which we continue to read and still not enjoy as much as Vaughan's other works.

Other books discussed this week: Immortal Iron Fist, M.O.D.O.K. Assassin, Book of Death: Ninjak, Old Man Logan, and The Hollows.

    Next week's Debut Review:

    • Tet #1 (of 4) - IDW: Eugene Smith is desperate to leave Vietnam behind, and begin a new life with the woman he loves. But when a fellow Marine is brutally murdered, Eugene's plans are thrown away, forever. All's fair in love and war, right? Writer Paul Allor and artist Paul Tucker present an extraordinary, heartfelt story of hard-boiled crime and star-crossed romance, set at the height of the Vietnam War and the decades that followed.

  • Episode 27: Young Terrorists Brings Us Back

This week, Alan and Brooks review Marvel's House of M, and Black Mask's Young Terrorists. The topic shifts to how Young Terrorists has the two hooked on Black Mask Studios after having not enjoyed We Can Never Go Home as much as everyone else.

Next week's Interview Spectacular with Magnetic Press is teased, as is a new video feature provided by Alec Bernal.

Other comics of note: Gotham Academy; Alias; The Ghost Fleet; Secret Wars Journal; Magnetic Press; Archie; Invincible; and Secret Wars.

    Next week's #1 review:

    • Drive #1 (of 4) - IDW: A hard-boiled pop-culture sensation re-created for comics. In L.A., there’s one man you want behind the wheel. Just tell him where and when. He doesn’t take part, doesn’t know anyone, doesn’t carry a weapon. He drives, and he’s the best. Ride along as James Sallis’ lean nü-noir masterpiece unfolds onto the sun-bleached streets of Los Angeles in this exciting 4-part comic book adaptation.

  • Episode 26: Air Balls, Airboy, and Americatown

This week, Alan and Brooks talk missing the boat on Americatown from Boom! Studios. However, thanks to Jeff Lemire, there's plenty good to talk about with the first arc finale of Descender -- our favorite comic of 2015.

Additionally, the two continue to push the latest Interview Spectacular, agree with Ashley about Airboy, and celebrate becoming friends with the Houston Rockets General Manager.

Discussed this week: Robin Son of Batman #2; Morning Glories #47; Phonogram The Immaterial Girl #1; Descender #6; Bloodshot Reborn #5; Secret Wars #5

    Next week's #1 issues:

    • House of M #1 - The House of Magnus controls all, having crushed all resistance to their reign. Magneto rules with an iron-fist, while his children and grandchildren live their lives as royals-with all the privileges and pit-falls that come with that title. But is Magneto's control as all-encompassing as it seems? And what happens to a conqueror when there is no one left to conquer?
    • Young Terrorists #1 - What if 'The Smoking Man' from The X-Files were a real person, and his daughter found out what he did for a living? The daughter of an assassinated globalist kingpin breaks out of an internment camp and leads her fellow escaped prisoners in a battle against an elitist conspiracy of shadow governments, megabanks, and military juntas in this edgy and subversive sci-fi thriller. Incendiary writer Matt Pizzolo and striking newcomer Amancay Nahuelpan unleash this tour-de-force that fearlessly assaults politics-as-usual. Young Terrorists continues the legacy of DMZ and The Invisibles as it manically rips the scab off life under the new world order and revels in the pus underneath.
