Too Many Comics episodes

  • Episode 22: Hire Us, Valiant

This week, the boys talk a lot more Valiant. In this week's first issue review, Alan and Brooks tackle the publisher's Book of Death, then conversation switches to its upcoming movie franchises before Brooks decides to update his resume for the current Marketing & Communications opening. (In all seriousness, people should apply for that job).

The two also talk Eisner winners, Olivia Munn's Psylocke look, and (it wouldn't be a Too Many Comics episode without this) Jeff Lemire's Descender.

In case you missed it, last week's interview with Nathan Edmondson can be found here. Stay tuned for John Arcudi's talk.

Other books of note this week:

    • Rumble, Vol. 1
    • Hawkeye #1-22
    • Robin: Son of Batman #2
    • Dead Drop #3
    • Invincible #121
    • The Island #1

    Next week's #1 review:

    • Wolf #1 (Image) - Ales Kot - The crime noir thrills and characters reminiscent of True Detective meet with mythical stakes worthy of Neil Gaiman's Sandman in this original fantasy/horror/crime saga for mature readers. Antoine Wolfe, a hard-boiled paranormal detective with a death wish, has to cope with sudden responsibility for an orphaned teenage girl who might be the key to the impending apocalypse, California-style. The road to hell and back begins in a MAX-SIZED FIRST ISSUE, with fifty-eight pages of story and no ads!

  • Interview Spectacular: Nathan Edmondson

In this special episode, we launch our newest feature, Interview Spectacular, with writer Nathan Edmondson. Nathan -- whose most recent work is seen at Marvel in the forms of Black Widow, Punisher and Deathlok -- joined us for a great talk on the comics creating process, what's next after his current titles and much more.

Programming note: The interview is broken into three parts with two fade out/ins denoting a new point in conversation.

Thank you again to Nathan. Please look up his work, and go read.

    • Who is Jake Ellis?
    • The Activity
    • Dancer
    • Black Widow
    • The Punisher
    • Deathlok

The two look forward to new title announcements from Marvel and Image, while teasing an upcoming interview with Nathan Edmondson.

  • Episode 20: Still Loving Lemire

With Alan on vacation, the boys took the opportunity this week to look back on all the first issues they've reviewed so far this year. In doing so, they realize again how much they've enjoyed Jeff Lemire's 2015. Thankfully, he now has more Marvel to deliver.

After some research, the two rank the top 5 (with two honorable mentions) and an agreed upon bottom 5 from 20 episodes worth of #1 reviews.

Also, Alan shares a potential vacation reading list in hopes of a rapid fire review upon his return. Regular-scheduled episodes resume next week with reviews of We Stand on Guard and Strange Fruit.

  • Episode 18: Taizong's Favorite Show

This week, the boys discuss what could be next with Jimmy Palmiotti, Taizong's one-star review, an excellent start of Noelle Stevenson's Runaways and an even better conclusion to Image's Alex + Ada.

Additionally, Robin: Son of Batman, Kinski, The Fiction, Bloodshot Reborn, Dead Drop and Old Man Logan are discussed (among other things).

    Next week's #1s:

    • We Are Robin #1 - Spinning out of the pages of BATMAN! The teenagers of Gotham City have adopted the 'R' and made it their own. A new Robin? No, HUNDREDS of new Robins! Don't miss the start of this new series from rising star writer Lee Bermejo (JOKER, SUICIDERS), who also provides the covers!
    • E is for Extinction #1 - What happens when mutants prove they really are Homo SUPERIOR? What will happen to the X-Men when they fight for a world that wants to be them, rather than hate and fears them? And what exactly is Magneto doing running the Xavier institute?? Rated T+
