  • Episode 18: Taizong's Favorite Show

This week, the boys discuss what could be next with Jimmy Palmiotti, Taizong's one-star review, an excellent start of Noelle Stevenson's Runaways and an even better conclusion to Image's Alex + Ada.

Additionally, Robin: Son of Batman, Kinski, The Fiction, Bloodshot Reborn, Dead Drop and Old Man Logan are discussed (among other things).

    Next week's #1s:

    • We Are Robin #1 - Spinning out of the pages of BATMAN! The teenagers of Gotham City have adopted the 'R' and made it their own. A new Robin? No, HUNDREDS of new Robins! Don't miss the start of this new series from rising star writer Lee Bermejo (JOKER, SUICIDERS), who also provides the covers!
    • E is for Extinction #1 - What happens when mutants prove they really are Homo SUPERIOR? What will happen to the X-Men when they fight for a world that wants to be them, rather than hate and fears them? And what exactly is Magneto doing running the Xavier institute?? Rated T+

  • Episode 17: Chew it Over with a Twix

*Editor's note: I (Alan) was traveling this week and had some issues with recording on the go. Apologies in advance for the dip in recording quality this week, but we certainly felt that was better than missing out on some great comics talk. We'll be back next week with the regular setup.)

This week, the boys review Starve #1, appreciate the Batman willingness to poke fun at DC's Twix ads and talk about the best of their weekly reads (including Saga, Descender, Groot and Gotham Academy).

In addition, we hope to see Jeff Lemire take over the X-Men and want to give a thumbs up to the marketing crew behind the upcoming Ant-Man film.

    Next week's #1s:

    • Runaways #1 - The best and brightest teens from all corners of Battleworld are chosen to attend a prestigious school on the planet's capital! But what does the new class do when they discover the school's beloved headmaster is actually a diabolical super villain? RUN AWAY! A SECRET WARS story like none other from the remarkable minds of Noelle Stevenson (LUMBERJANES) and Sanford Greene (UNCANNY AVENGERS)! Rated T+
    • Fiction #1 - Four childhood friends discover a box of strange books that, when read aloud, can transport them to the beautiful, imaginary worlds described within. But when one of them goes missing, the others vow never to reveal where they've been and what they've seen. Years later, when one of the remaining kids, now an adult, also mysteriously disappears, it's up to the last two of the group to dig up their dusty books to find him and finally figure out what happened to their friend all those years ago. • Episode 16: Boom!'s Broken World

This week, the boys rave about Broken World #1 from Boom! Studios, and discuss how pleasantly surprised they were with Image's Airboy #1. On top of that, other good reads this week included The Wicked + The Divine, Old Man Logan and Wes Craig's Black Hand Comics.

Additionally, Secret Wars begins to slip deeper into the summer, Brooks watched Howard the Duck on Starz, and DC is adding half-page ads to books. However, you should skip that DC story and watch this Predator fan film instead.

    Next week's #1:

    • Starve #1 (Image) - UTENSILS DOWN, HANDS UP! WELCOME TO STARVE! Once the world's most famous chef, Gavin Cruikshank's been in a self-imposed exile for years. His little foodie television program has since evolved into STARVE, an arena sport that pits chef against chef for the pleasure of their super-rich patrons. It's a stain on a once-noble profession, and Chef Gavin is ready to go to war to stop it. Two things stand in his way: his arch rival Roman Algiers, and his adult daughter Angie, who probably just wants her dad back and acting normal. Whipsmart world-building and a creative dream team (DMZ, The Massive, Star Wars, Loveless, Hellboy, The Sandman) come together for a brand new monthly series!

This week, the boys review M.O.D.O.K. Assassin and Fight Club 2, as Brooks works through some of his own real-life comics shenanigans. In the Nathan Edmondson update of the week, everyone's thrilled to learn the creator tuned in last week and may potentially be a guest on an upcoming episode.

Elsewhere, the two discuss adding Batman to the Suicide Squad mix, Bleeding Cool's Image Comics rundown, the Divinity ending, Descender, plus much more.

    • Awesome Divinity variants
    • Everyone loves Descender

  • Episode 13: Chicks Dig Comics

This week, the boys realize even more how much they enjoy certain women in comics. Black Widow gets another mention, as does a host of others for Marvel's upcoming A-force (which we won't review as our #1 next week, but we'll most likely read anyways). Other awesome ladies: Ashley at Superhero Beach, the females of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Peggy Carter, Jane Foster, and Fiona Staples to name a few.

Not everything can be awesome, though, as the Super Girl preview fails to catch our interest. Afterwards, we review Injection #1 and The Mantle #1 in our weekly segment before touching on what else we've been picking up recently.

    Next week's #1 review:

    • Insufferable #1 (IDW) - What happens when your crime-fighting sidekick grows up to be an arrogant, ungrateful douchebag who makes Kanye look humble? Worse, what on Earth could force the two of you together for one last case? Nocturnus and his former protege, Galahad, will find out-if they don't kill one another first.
