Length: 3 hrs and 2 mins

Language: English

Release date: 01-14-16

Publisher: Chris Mielczarski, Evan Harris

Publisher's Summary:

Eric Swift is not having a normal Christmas Eve. While none of his holidays have been particularly normal since his successful rise from coding in an old apartment to running his own software firm, this particular one has taken an unexpected turn. Pre-occupied, dismissive to employees, slightly sadistic, and generally oblivious to the festivities around him, Swift is about to find out how unhealthy it can be to pay more attention to lines of code than those around him when a seemingly innocent gift combined with a new piece of technology at the company gives new meaning to the term total immersion. Before the night is over, he'll be confronted by mythical creatures, gangsters, and a relentless rival who pursues him every step of the way as he tries to find his way back to the world he thought himself ready to leave behind. And, if he's lucky, there may just be a damsel to rescue along the way as well. Or perhaps she just may be the one to save him.

Title: The Queen of Escapes

Author: Curtis Fernlund

Narrator: Jonathan Johns

Format: Unabridged

Length: 5 hrs and 47 mins

Language: English

Release date: 01-08-16

Publisher: RadioArchives.com

Genres: Fiction, Contemporary

Publisher's Summary:

The year is 1935. After a decade of fame as the Queen of the Serials, Hollywood actress Gloria Swann is dismayed to see her box-office numbers dwindling with each new production. Desperate to reclaim her popularity, she bankrolls her own film project - an over-the-top jungle adventure to be shot on location in the wilds of the Amazon rainforests of Brazil.

After the crew and cast arrive at their isolated destination, a series of accidents occurs, threatening the lives of several of the players. The main target of these unexplained mishaps is Swann's younger stunt double, Angela Morgan. She suspects there are evil forces lurking in the jungle that threaten their safety. Her only ally in this belief is veteran stunt coordinator Karl Braun. When Gloria Swann mysteriously disappears, Angela may be the only hope the Queen of Escapes has to survive.

Writer Curtis Fernlund's homage to the classic film serials of yesterday is a rousing, fast-paced adventure that speeds from one danger-filled cliffhanger to the next. Andy Fish captures all the fun in his gorgeous cover painting, packaged and designed by Rob Davis.

Great pulp adventure story

They say you canât judge a book by its cover, but I confess it was the cover of Curtis Fernlundâs The Queen of Escapes that sold me the book.

One hour after seeing the cover for the first time, the ebook was on my Kindle.

That same night, I happily sacrificed a few hours of sleep to read the first two chapters of the novel.

By that time, I was hooked.

Now, I need more.

Set in 1935, The Queen of Escapes drops us smack in the middle of a movie set, somewhere in the Amazon Jungle.

Action serial star Gloria Swann is not aging gracefully, and her long suffering stunt double, Angela Morgan, is first in line when it comes to taking the brunt of her tempers â and she has to risk her neck, too, in complicated action shots.

But thereâs something moving in the jungle, something that seems set on getting Gloriaâ and once again Angela is first in line when trouble comes.

The book is a fun, well-written adventure yarn â Fernlund handles both action and dialogue with verve, and the cast of characters is intriguing and well-drawn. The novel is fast but nothing seems rushed â itâs paced marvelously, and itâs very very good, old-style adventure fiction.

And talking about well-drawn characters â the cover by Andy Fish is gorgeous, and the black & white interior illustrations by James Lyle are equally excellent.

All in all a great book â great story, characters, artwork.

Airship 27 delivers the goods (again), and I canât recommend this fine book strongly enough.

Get it â it will be fun.

loveed it!

Loved the way the writer made it come alive! He has a true talent with words! Loved ever minute! Awesome!

but I loved it! Jonathan Johns did a fantastic job of ...

I was totally flabbergasted to hear that my book was going audible, but I loved it! Jonathan Johns did a fantastic job of bringing my tale to life catching every nuance and hazard that I envisioned. Thank you, Jonathan for bringing this to reality in a way I could never have imagined. Every scene is real and even I can't wait to hear what happens next!

If you haven't bought the book or the NEW audio, do so now! You will NOT be disappoinnted!Great stuff as always from Airship 27!

From the sunny Caribbean to the frozen Thames with London covered in snow to exotic Casablanca, and from ancient palaces to English manor houses, their adventures take them beyond anything they could have expected.

Members Reviews:

A colourful and informative story that would make a splendid film with its large cast of characters

The large cast of characters and the scenes in which they travel - from London, Central America and to Morocco - make this a very colourful and informative story with historical references that send one reaching for the research books to gain more insight into that period. It needs one's full attention as there is much detail spanning the Spanish Conquest led by Hernan Cortes and his war against Moctezuma of the Aztecs with the support of the Mayan warriors to the timeline and the connection with the Royal Observatory in London . Some of these characters then visit South Africa's Observatory and are caught up in the Anglo-Boer War in the author's title, 'Crossing the Vaal'.

Instinctively she moved between the perceived threat and her twin cubs then charged, knocking Montana down before she was able to lift her gun from its holster. Roaring and snapping its huge jaws, the grizzly ripped at Montana's shirt and tore into her chest. The hounds fought desperately, knowing that if they didn't do something fast, Montana was as good as dead.

Montana had been given everything: intelligence, beauty, breeding, wealth, and opportunity.

She walked away from it all - and into the legend of the Mountain Girl.

Members Reviews:

Oh my goodness, the book had me with the 1st page!

I loved the sense of adventure experienced by Montana! I could relate to to her love of what God has made for us in enjoying nature. Her crises were so real, I found myself wondering what a bear chomping on my head would really feel like! Her genuine love for her Indian husband stirred my heart strings! I loved the whole book!
