TopMedTalk live is a gathering of Trainees with an interest in Perioperative Medicine (TRIPOM) alongside TopMedTalk listeners and EBPOM 2018 attendees in the IET London, England.
This conversation is driven by questions from listeners online and attendees in the audience. Two pain management experts alongside the TRIPOM representatives and Desiree and Monty respond in detail to some of the key controversies in Perioperative medicine.
Is there an opioid crisis and is it unique to the USA? Is there a problem with opioids and cancer outcomes? How do we educate junior doctors on this topic? What about patients who demand opioids to handle their pain? Should we be looking more closely at where and why Oxycodone specifically is prescribed?
Part two will follow next week.
TopMedTalk live was presented by Monty Mythen and Desiree Chappell in front of a live audience with panellists; John Whittle, assistant Professor at Duke University Medical Centre and one of the founders of TRIPOM, Katie Samuel, TRIPOM co-chair and perioperative medicine fellow at UCL Hospitals, Dr Padma Gulur, Duke University Medical Centre, Dr Natasha Curran, UCL Hospitals.
