Touchdowns 5 Points Podcast

It's time to spot the ball! South Carolina kicks off it's 2026 football season this Saturday against Kent State in Columbia. Months of podcasting has led to this episode: our 2026 season preview. We laid out expectations for the Gamecocks, set our playoff bracket, picked a Heisman winner and even rattled off a few coaches we think are hitting the chopping block by the season's end. This week we are also returning to a two episode a week schedule, so look out for our Kent State game preview coming out later this week!

Thank you to everyone that has listened since last season! If you are a new listener for this season, welcome!

College football returns this weekend and we're gearing up for kickoff with our season-long win total picks. Beck and Thomas go back and forth with their five favorite picks for the season, giving just a little preview to what they think happens in the college football landscape this fall. Whether you are wagering $5 or $500, please practice responsible units and gamble within your means! After a lengthy discussion over our picks, we talk camp buzz and roster news after a somewhat busy weekend in Columbia. LSU and Lane Kiffin are also making headlines again, this time bringing in players fresh off NFL training camp stints. We dish some takes on that before Thomas talks about the first week at the bar with students back in town. Remember, next week will be our comprehensive season prewiew show. We will go over our expectations for South Carolina, predict the playoff picture, and sprinkle in some conference and Heisman winners along the way.

As part of our lead up to the season, Beck and Thomas sit down to talk about South Carolina's offense. If you missed the defensive episode, check out our episode from last week. This will be OC Kendal Briles' first season in charge of the Gamecock offense. It's a team that has been searching for a tried and true playcaller since the waning days of the Spurrier era, and there is not a roster since then more equipped for an offensive explosion than this year's team. We take a look at the staff and two-deep to determine our expectations for the Gamecock offense this season.

As part of our lead up to the season, Beck and Thomas sit down to talk about South Carolina's defense. Under Coach Clayton White, it's been a unit that is consistently dependable and leads the SEC in turnovers since he arrived in Columbia. We take a look at the staff and two-deep to talk about what we want to see from this side of the ball this season.

A lot of things can change in a week! The last time we recorded, Joshua Dobson was set to announce his decision the next day. Fast forward to now, he and three other prospects have committed to USC football's class of 2027. Beck and Thomas talk about how relieving it is to get some big names in the boat and what this means for the class going forward. After that we discuss a big-time runningback recruitment that we aren't involved in, but could set the stage for big battles all over the country as the NIL era rolls on. We also talk about the Nike release before ending with some more good news regarding the baseball team.

Beck and Thomas have talked about the state of recruiting for the class of 2027 for weeks and both of these players could be crown jewel type players for the Gamecocks come signing day. Not to be upstaged is the switch to Nike, which will officially start tomorrow, July 1. Beck and Thomas reminisce on their favorite uniform looks over the years before turning the mic over to you, what was your favorite Under Armour look for Gamecock football? Let us know in the comment section on YouTube, or Instagram/Twitter. Finally, we round up the show with more baseball recruiting news before shouting out three former Gamecocks who are competing in Wimbledon this week.
