Beck and Thomas begin the episode with a quick preview of this weekend's NFL Draft, where four Gamecocks are hoping to hear their names called and beging their professional careers. After that, a slew of 2027 football prospects are narrowing down their schools and the Gamecocks are in the thick of it with many highly-rated players. The SEC Championship game is in the headlines after Alabama's AD Greg Byrne called for the annual game to end. We talk about why the SEC Championship game should stay on the schedule, and what changes should be made to make sure conference championship games matter in the future. Finally, we end with some MBB recruiting and staff news before shouting-out some Gamecocks putting in work in their respective sports over the last week.

After a two week break, Beck and Thomas return to the airwaves with some exciting football, baseball and women's basketball news. Gamecock FB just picked up one of the most unique commitments in years after Irish rugby player Neff Giwa pledged his commitment to USC on Sunday afternoon. It's also been more than a week since the Paul Mainieri firing, but the dust is still settling. The team still looks awful and Beck had a few choice words for PawPaw on his way out the door. Finally, the women's basketball team is rolling through the tournament and has their sights set on the Final Four if they can take down TCU Monday night.

The Touchdowns 5 Points podcast has reached the conclusion that the Paul Mainieri era at South Carolina should end immediately. Thomas and Beck start the episode off with a bang and go in-depth on USC's pathetic performance from this weekend's series in Gainesville. Equally as frustrating to fans this season was the men's basketball team, which lost in the first round of the SEC tournament last week. Shortly after the season ended it was announced that head coach Lamont Paris will return for next season. We discuss the pros and cons to that decision and also analyze one fan's theory regarding Lamont's buyout cost and football team future. Finally, we end the episode with some good news: the women's basketball team will host the first two rounds of the NCAA tournament in Columbia after earning a 1 seed... and St. Patrick's day in 5 points went off without a hitch for the bar.
It feels like nothing has gone right for Gamecock athletics in the last year, and we've seen the staggeringly bad records to prove it. Our recent stretch of misery inspired us to ask the question: has there ever been a worse time to be a Gamecock? We look back on the last 30 years and compared the two halves against each other... listing highs, lows and other memories from our lifetime. Comment your highs and lows below or reach out to us on Instagram or Twitter to tell us what you think!

The hits keep coming for USC's offensive line as Shane Beamer announced returning offensive tackle Josiah Thompson will be undergoing surgery that will keep him sidelined for the upcoming football season. Beck and Thomas debate the chances Thompson was going to play anyway before the announcement and also talk about who could be filling the role while Thompson recovers. Both basketball teams are gearing up for tournaments this week: the men will have to reel off 5 straight wins to make the NCAA tournament, and the women are gearing up for another national championship run. Baseball also got a much needed sweep over the weekend. We end the show with a big congratulations to two friends of the podcast that got married over the weekend.Make sure to follow us on our social media platforms and to subscribe wherever you get your podcasts: https://linktr.ee/Touchdowns5PointsPo....Check out our sponsors!CrossCountry Mortgage Harrison Williamson: http://www.LendWithMeH3.comCajun Cousins catering: https://cajuncousinsco.com/
The Gamecock men's baseball team, specifically the coaching staff, continue to disappoint and embarrass their fans with a third series loss in a row to Clemson. Beck waxes poetic about the Mainieri era and the fall of Gamecock baseball before Thomas joins in with his own embarassing stats for the men's basketball team. The women & Dawn continue to dominate conference play with a huge road win against Kentucky Sunday and will begin the SEC conference tournament with the 1 seed. We also talked about the four Gamecocks that competed in the NFL combine over the weekend: Nick Barrett, Brandon Cisse, Rahsul Faison and Jalon Kilgore.

It was a busy weekend at Touchdowns in 5 Points as ESPN and College Gameday were in town & at the bar to help promote South Carolina's big home game against Ole Miss Sunday. Thomas and Beck open the episode up talking about what it was like at the bar Saturday night before breaking down USC's conference championship-clinching blowout against Ole Miss. We are hoping the women are inspiring the men to become winners too, as the men pulled off a big home win to snap a long losing streak against Mississippi State over the weekend. After some exciting talk about basketball, we switch gears to football, where news broke over the weekend that star transfer tackle Jacarrius Peak suffered a lower leg injury that could keep him sidelined into the season. Beck and Thomas also touched on South Carolina's newest assistant coach, Matthew Smiley, who will be leading the Gamecocks' special teams unit this fall. We end the episode with a quick recap of the baseball team's disappointing weekend in the Salute the Troops baseball tournament & a look ahead to this weekend's massive series versus Clemson.

Ray Tanner is the gift that keeps on giving in Columbia, SC. All three major men's sports are at the bottom of the SEC and Tanner himself shrugged the reality off as "cyclical". Beck and Thomas discuss what Tanner left behind for the current athletics administration and echo the sentiments of what many Gamecock fans are feeling: a complete lack of joy surrounding men's sports. What is not lacking joy is our women's basketball team, who went to Baton Rouge Saturday night and left with an 18th straight win vs. LSU. The women are poised for another long postseason run under Dawn Staley's leadership.
