Tranos presents yet another reminder that marginalized people can and will carry water for their oppressors. Kamryn talks about how she was pushed to activism by circumstance, how some activists never want to get too active and the tensions that arise when there are serpents in these social circles.

On January 7, Tyre Nichols was caught up in an “officer involved murder” in Memphis. Five Black cops assaulted him and he succumb to his injuries in the hospital three days later. A 29-year-old Black father was killed as part of a traffic stop that wasn’t even provably justified. But the cops were Black, so who can even tell if it was racist for the police to murder a Black person? Tranos can. Kamryn explains the history of Black slave catchers, how slave hunters became professional police officers and how doing racism is what makes a person racist, regardless of the color of their skin.

Kamryn tries to demonstrate how it feels to have your identity up for debate with strangers who couldn’t possibly know what they think they know and with people as close as family members who have no excuse not to know better.

Tranos returns from some long, late hours in the lab to speak on some behaviors that trigger dysphoria. Kamryn took her time on this topic because she knew what she wanted to say, but it was hard to get the words out smoothly because she recounts a slew of painful, transphobic interactions.
