    In this edition of The TREC Podcast, Winstead PC’s Tobin Swope joins TREC Marketing and Communications Coordinator Bill San Antonio to talk about his family’s FightNight connection, his time with Stanford University’s baseball program and navigating law school and the real estate industry during the late 2000s economic downturn, among other topics.
    A member of the Associate Leadership Council’s Class of 2014, Tobin is the secretary to this year’s TREC executive board. With Winstead’s Real Estate Developments & Investments Practice Group, he covers a variety of commercial real estate transactions involving financing, development, leasing, acquisition and disposition of real property of all asset classes, including multi-family and student housing, office, retail, industrial, flex, healthcare, gas station/convenience store and master planned single-family and mixed-use developments. Tobin is also the son of Jeff Swope, one of The Real Estate Council’s founding members.

  • Jim Clifton, Gallup
    We get right to the action in this special edition of The TREC Podcast our President and CEO Linda McMahon chats with Gallup Chairman and CEO Jim Clifton! Their conversation took place shortly after Clifton left the stage of our first Bank of Texas Speaker Series event of the year back in January and spans the so-called coming jobs war, on which Clifton has authored a book, what the United States must do to compete with its economic rivals and how to manage Millennials, among other topics.
    During Clifton’s 30 years as Gallup’s chief executive officer, the consulting and public opinion research giant has expanded to 30 offices in 20 countries and regions. He is the creator of The Gallup Path, a metrics-based economic model that links human nature to the business world and has been used in performance management systems at more than 500 companies worldwide. Clifton’s latest innovation, the Gallup World Poll, is designed to give the world’s 7 billion citizens a voice in virtually all key global issues. He is also the author of Entrepreneurial Strengthsfinder as well as many other articles on global leadership, and his blog appears regularly in the Influencer section of LinkedIn and on Gallup.com’s Chairman’s Blog.

    In this edition of The TREC Podcast, David Evemy of Sarofim Realty Advisors talks to David Meyer of Grant Thornton about recent changes to the tax code and how they affect the commercial real estate industry.     Dave Meyer is a partner in Grant Thornton's Dallas office. He has extensive experience with corporate and partnership tax matters, accounting methods and mergers & acquisitions. Meyer has served a variety of industries, including real estate, manufacturing, health care and financial services.
    Prior to joining Grant Thornton, he was with PricewaterhouseCoopers and Arthur Andersen, serving public and private clients. At Arthur Andersen, he was the lead tax partner in the Houston office’s enterprise group, which focused on serving public and private middle-market companies. He also served as the vice president of mergers and acquisitions for a NYSE-listed company, Consolidated Graphics, for two years.
    Evemy, TREC’s 2017 educational programs chair, is SVP of Strategic Planning and Research for Sarofim. He leads the research group in the review and analysis of economic trends impacting real estate. Evemy and his team are responsible for investment strategy design and implementation as well as market conditions analysis affecting new and existing property assets. He joined Sarofim in 2000 and is a member of the company’s Investment Committee.

  • FightNight 30: Chris Hipps, Steve Crosson
    In this edition of The TREC Podcast, we’re previewing next week’s FightNight 30! Listen in as 2018 FightNight Chair Chris Hipps of CBRE chats with TREC’s resident boxing expert, Steve Crosson (Capright)!
    Known as TREC’s resident boxing expert and one of the board members credited with creating FightNight, Crosson is a boxing lifer. He has refereed World Boxing Council title bouts in the United States, Japan, Korea, Thailand, Venezuela and Mexico, and has served the organization as its treasurer and U.S. spokesman. Though Crosson has also been part of more than 50 black-tie charitable boxing events across the country, he tells Hipps that the others don’t quite compare to the one that started it all, right here in Dallas.
