It's noteworthy that Trump's statements appeared to surpass the legal arguments put forth by one of his lawyers. The legal team had previously attempted to leverage broad claims of executive immunity to dismiss a federal indictment against Trump, accusing him of conspiring to unlawfully overturn the 2020 election results.
