The Covid Regime: Where do we Stand?

Over the past year, more than 50% of the global population have received one or more Covid jabs.

In the last two episodes we explored the more common and yet multifarious factors behind the choice to take - or not to take - the Covid jab.

As leaders it's our job to provide direction and take people with us - both the jabbed and the unjabbed.

For that we need to know where we stand.

We need to be confident enough in our own perspective that we can engage with anybody, regardless of their position - with respect, empathy and understanding - and with clarity, strength and intention.

In this episode we explore our own position in regard to the Covid Regime, and how knowing where we stand helps us engage with and lead our people, powerfully and wisely.

The Covid Regime: Understanding the UnJabbed

Over the past year, more than 50% of the global population have received one or more Covid jabs.

A large minority have not taken the jab, or have taken one or more jabs and then chosen not to take the next one.

It's all too easy to assume that those who follow the same path we have chosen for ourselves are bright, moral and reasonable; and that 'the other side' is stupid, selfish and morally bankrupt.

It's never that simple.

As leaders - we need to be there for all our people, regardless of their political leanings, personal choices and positions in regard to the Covid jab.

We are well advised to try to understand the - often complex - psychology behind each position.

The Covid Regime: Shall we Talk about it?

We are all well aware of the events of the past couple of years, and of how we have each individually been affected.

For many, this is and has been an isolating experience - leaving many of us alone with our experiences, our thoughts and our feelings.

While there's been plenty of ranting, pontificating and finger pointing - there's been an unusual lack of mature and intelligent public debate.

Human beings need to talk about stuff.

Finding our meaningful context for 2022

I was sent the perennial question - how to cope with difficult relatives and house guests over the Holiday Season?

The short answer - 'our problems with others are problems with ourselves' is one of my favourite - and most hated - sayings.

Favourite - because it implies and encourages personal responsibility, self-mastery and freedom.

Hated - because it removes the possibility of blaming the other person, and implies investing in difficult personal exploration at times when we might prefer to allocate responsibility elsewhere!

How do leaders bring back pragmatism without losing compassion?

The events of 2020/21 triggered a mass rising of compassionate leadership around the globe.  Not everywhere.  But enough to be remarkable. 

Our people were suffering.  We had to step up and support them.  They needed this, our businesses required it.
