President Donald Trump says talks with Iran could resume within the next two days, signaling a possible pause in escalating tensions. The comment comes as diplomatic efforts continue behind the scenes amid uncertainty over whether negotiations will actually restart. 

China has allowed a U.S.-sanctioned oil tanker to sail through the Strait of Hormuz, defying President Trump’s efforts to tighten control of the vital shipping lane. The move underscores rising geopolitical tensions as Beijing signals it will keep energy supplies moving despite U.S. pressure and regional conflict. 

The U.S. will begin automatically registering eligible men for the Selective Service starting in late 2026. Officials say the change modernizes the system and boosts compliance, while stressing it does not reinstate the military draft.
