Tom reflects on children learning to balance-- a dynamic process that requires constant movement. In order to learn balance, children need to move. Balance can also be a metaphor for supporting individual children's needs with the needs of the rest of the group. Tom envisions a "license to move" in every area of early childhood classrooms.
