  • Typical Books EP211 - Your Answer Can't Be Books Tag

It's always about books, even when it's not: the It Can't Be Books Tag is a fun distraction from what I ought to be reading or writing now. I watched  Books of Blood do this so wanted to play along then was tagged by Mindy! And the original video is from Book Buds!

Some of the things mentioned in this video are:

    Perfume:

    Margot Elena - https://margotelena.com/products/transformation-perfume

Body Shop Black Musk - https://amzn.to/2XRTWkS

    The questions:

    1. What is something that you own way too many of, other than books?

    2. What is something that you do for fun that’s not reading a book?
    3. What is something special or important on your nightstand, that’s not a book?
    4. What’s something that you buy at a bookstore other than books?*
    5. What’s a fun gift that you’ve received that wasn’t a book or a gift card for books?
    6. What’s a YouTube channel that you watch that’s not related to books
    7. Tag five BookTubers that you want to learn more about.

    * I missed a question! I'd say I buy bookmarks. The other things I buy are technically books: magazines and notebooks.

  • Typical Books EP210 - Clown in a Cornfield • Young Adult Slasher Horror Review

This was a super fun buddy read with  @Regina's Haunted Library and perfect for getting closer to Halloween!

Here is the GoFundMe link to support Ruth : https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-ruth-obtain-new-dentures

    Watch Regina's video here : https://youtu.be/Vhii9lap7Tg

Clown in a Cornfield by Adam Cesare is a young adult horror novel in a b-movie slasher style - with clowns! And cornfields! What more could a girl want? A Bram Stoker Award win? Well, we have that too...

Pick a fresh copy straight from the field: https://amzn.to/3xYKTuK

I had done a reading vlog on TikTok so I've included those here as well and a few insights as to why I liked this story so much; from the writing style to my adoration of corn syrup marketing in the 40s and 50s.

  • Typical Books EP208 - Two Novellas: Corpsepaint and Odin Rising • plus TNBM by Peter Beste

Rock, metal, and punk are often found in horror fiction, but Black Metal I don't find often enough. Here are two novellas that feature the genre heavily, and are quite terrifying reads. As a bonus, I leaf through True Norwegian Black Metal from Peter Beste which features striking photography and collected reproductions of TNBM press and lore.
