Another episode, another week of turbulence for the Eric Adams administration and his NYPD top cops. Thomas Donlon we hardly knew ya! We discuss the freshly appointed NYPD commissioner already resigning after only a few weeks on the job and an FBI raid on his apartment. Then we dig into the NY Post story revealing Deputy Commissioner of Operations Kaz Daughtry pocketing almost $150k in overtime despite department rules barring management level positions from collecting it.

We also discuss the predictable backlash Ta-Nehisi Coates continues to receive after the release of his book “The Message” and his subsequent publicity tour in which he has been critical of the government of Israel.

We touch on some fun topics too including a ridiculous video from a local police department unveiling their new cyber truck. Tune in!

We have another loaded episode for you this week. We are joined by Hawk and Chivona Newsome of Black Opportunities and Black Lives Matter Greater New York to break down both the federal indictment of Eric Adams and the targeting of Relly by the NYPD after he was given a $10k bail and was sent to Rikers Island for protesting last week. Hawk and Chivona explain the reasoning for disrupting the corrupt mayor’s press conference the following day and give their analysis on why the state is trying so hard to suppress activism. Relly then describes his time on Rikers Island, the deplorable conditions, and how an NYPD lie has him in such legal jeopardy. On the brighter side, we highlight the incredible swell of support from the community as we rallied to raise his bail, how it is indicative of the string networks We The People has built in the city and how we can seize on that momentum. We also end by talking about Missouri executing Marcellus Williams by lethal injection last week despite evidence of his innocence and over one million people signing a petition for a stay of execution. We close the episode by honoring the legacy and poetry highlighting the plight of oppressed peoples he left behind.

First off, HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Dimez!!! We had so much to talk about this episode. The FBI has been getting busy in NYC with Diddy arrested and further raids and investigations in Eric Adams circles and within the FDNY.

The NYPD 73rd precinct committed a mass shooting last week at the Sutter ave L station, and we break down the timeline of the shooting and the NYPD attempts to control the narrative. Relly threw a protest on Tuesday against the 73rd precinct and the NYPD responded with aggressive brutality. We discuss how it all went down and the next steps of the fight.

Eric Adams tried again to be cool by …. burning four TONS of weed? We had to have our laughs about that to start off the episode. The arrest of Telegram’s Pavel Durov is another big story this week, leaving us asking what does that mean for social media and privacy online?

We watch and break down a few clips from the recent news- first The Poor People’s Army, hearing from some of the less covered movements protesting at the DNC. Next, Kamala on the border wall and the democratic-republican contradictions there. Trump is back brawling into the news with his entourage in Arlington National Cemetery so we had to run that down as well. We end the episode by getting into a nuanced conversation about movement-building and our respective thoughts on the centralization of power within popular movements. Another great discussion! This week Relly and Dimez are in the studio, but Rudy was unfortunately out sick :( hopefully we have everyone back next week! You know Relly and Dimez took care of business anyways though. We started off digging into Eric Adams being investigated even MORE by the FBI with a new wave of subpeonas.

We talk about the latest hijinks at the DNC by the democrats and the suppression of Palestinian voices both speakers and protestors. Relly and Dimez recounted Relly’s action this week and the latest success there.

Crystul Kizer is an example of the system being built to fail Black women, and we reviewed the despicable ruling on her case in Wisconsin.

We also reviewed two new updates on the appeals process for Marcellus Williams. It’s a heavy matter but so important. Keep sharing his story and petition!

We end the episode on a lighter note, visiting the ongoing epidemic of men being misogynistic on podcasts with a roasting session. Dimez also recounts the S.W.A.R x The Door outing where they checked out this much needed resource directed towards queer and trans youth in NYC, resources still available to all.

This week Rudy hosts Jule Hall & Demetrius James from The Innocence Project and Bard Prison Initiative to talk about their respective post-incarceration journeys, how they perceive and pursue justice for those still behind bars–including both of their work in community farming– and how to provide stability for those reentering society after prison.

We are also briefly joined by community member Remo 369 (@mac.shaman369) who joins in the conversation and talks about spirituality and how their connection to community and their ancestors grounds them.
