  • UV Podcast 032 – Paul du Lac
Hey Paul, thanks for your podcast. What’s the story behind it and where did you record it? It was recorded live in Amsterdam a couple of months ago at the Sugar Factory, on this club night called 4 Spirits. These guys are into straight up no-nonsense house music so I brought some jacking stuff… It was a great party Is there a record that triggered your interest in electronic music and brought you to deejaying/producing? How did your connection to Clone come about in the first place? I was a regular customer since day one You are working in the Clone Distribution departement. How has the situation for selling records evolved and how do labels react to the changing enviroment from your point of view?  I guess you can write a book about that… So many things have changed the last 10 years, and are still changing. Due to internet, globalisation and easy software the numbers of producers, labels & dj’s worldwide are still growing rapidly, so competition is getting harder and harder, even though the audience is growing as well. This means labels have to be creative and make some extra efforts in order to be picked up. There’s […]

  • UV Podcast 031 – Moony Me
Hey Mr. Moony Me. Thanks for doing this mix. What’s the idea behind it? Thanks for having me. The idea behind it was to showcase some tracks that I think give a good impression of what I’m doing, both in the studio and behind the decks. I feel like all these tracks have similar colourations within them. I don’t know if other people perceive it like that, but it makes sense to me. You got into music via Hip-Hop. Am I right when I presume that Soul and Funk still play an important part in your House music? You can always hear the influence of 70’s Soul and Funk, Fusion Jazz and Disco in my tracks and in my sets, whether it’s a sample or it’s the harmonies and aesthetics, and I realized afterwards that this was also the reason I was and still am into sample-based HipHop. One day I started to look for the samples used in some of my favourite HipHop tracks and that’s where I fell in love with those sweet Soul songs by The Isley Brothers, Isaac Hayes, The O’Jays, etc. Since then I’ve been digging deeper and deeper into these styles of music and […]

  • UV031 - Sandrow M - Kuiper Belt Rose EP

    Bandcamp: 13.7.2015 (Vinyl & digital)
All other stores: Vinyl 24.7.2015 & Digital 3.8.2015
    Tracklist
    1. Kuiper Belt Rose
    2. Next Stop Hessdalen
    3. Dream Controlling
    4. Miss You Again
Long awaited and right in time for summer: Sandrow M follows up his much loved “Prayervan EP” from 2013. Being one of Uncanny Valley’s mainstays since the very start, the Dresden based artist once again proves his versatility as well as his knack for synth based melodies with his new EP “Kuiper Belt Rose”.
Sandrow M seems to love singing along with catchy tunes as much as dancing in the club. It’s in every note, whether it’s the dreamy title track, the elegant “Dream Controlling” or “Next Stop Hessdalen” which is a veritable dance floor bomb thanks to the rising synths. The record ends with the beautiful “Miss You Again” which was actually written for a modern dance piece.
The artwork was created by Lydia Mojzis.

  • UV Podcast 030 – Cuthead
Hey Cuthead. After you started our podcast series it’s about time that you do a new one. What can you tell us about your mix. It’s pretty diverse, isn’t it? Yeah, this time almost every genre is involved. From Spirituals via Hip-Hop to House and Disco. But that’s how I’d characterize a good mix and that’s what I prefer when I listen to podcasts. We’ll celebrate five years of Uncanny Valley this summer. If you look back what do you think how your production techniques and musical preferences have evolved during that time? Not so much, I mean the techniques are somehow limited and you know how to handle the effects and machines after doing it for a while. It’s more the musical taste that alters over the years and in my case the selection of samples and sounds. You also get more picky in details which makes the whole process slower You have to stay focussed if you don’t want to get stuck in these little things. Is there a certain track from your UV-records or maybe from another label artist that has a special place in your heart? I really like the new Credit 00 record starting with […]

  • UV Funk 032: FCK Undrgrnd Special
Success is dangerous. If your band hits the jackpot with numerous platinum records it’s likely that your future songs lack creativity and courage. But there are exceptions. For the latest UV Funk show host Philipp mixed cool music by popular bands that know how to sell records: B-Sides, Outtakes, lesser known singles or just your favourite track on an otherwise crap album.
The show is in German. If you hate all that teutonic talking but like the music you can write https://soundcloud.com/philipp-demankowski via Soundcloud to get the voiceless version.
    1. The Alan Parsons Project - I Robot
    2. Kool & the Gang - Summer Madness
    3. Donna Summer - State Of Independence
    4. Talk Talk - Happiness Is Easy (12 Inch Mix)
    5. Orchestral Manoeuvres In The Dark - Dancing (Peel Sessions 1979-1983)
    6. Eurythmics - Monkey Monkey
    7. Maggie Reilly & Mike Oldfield - Foreign Affair
    8. Cat Stevens - Was Dog A Doughnut
    9. Spandau Ballet – Pharaoh
    10. Hot Chocolate- Put Your Love in Me
    11. Paul McCartney - Frozen Jap
