If I were a betting man, I would say that most of us have been sheltered from our Bible.  What does it mean to be sheltered/protected from our Bible and why is it happening?  Paul tells the Roman people that the non-believing Jews were "enemies" to the Gospel, mostly for their condemnation and suppression of Christians and the story of Jesus Christ.  What happens when the people who are suppressing the Bible are the very people who claim to believe it?

Is the grass really greener on the other side?  Or have we been fooled into thinking that life without God is good?  As we survey Paul's letter to Rome we can see that Israel took for granted the promise and status they were given as God's covenant partners.  We can fall prey to this same complacency if we are not careful.

We've done it. We have found the Tree of Life! If this claim sounds odd to you, I promise after this episode you will agree with me.  Paul gets into some beautiful imagery regarding grafting and the branches that are brought in and tossed out.  We are those branches and the fruit we bear is essential to our status in this imagery.  Speaking of Trees, do we as the branches have a right to look down on the root (foundation) that we feed off of?  Modern culture tends to view itself as morally superior to the generations past, but is that really the case?  Do we have a right to belittle those who made the foundation we take for granted?

It appears that the first 9 chapters of Paul's letter to the Romans sets the foundation for theology and worldview.  Now that we have reached Chapter 10 Paul changes gears and calls on the Roman people to claim the Salvation that Jesus died for us to have.  So we examine the steps to salvation, but Paul doesn't stop there.  He gives a series of events that leads us wondering... Should we preach Jesus? Are we responsible for sharing the Gospel?

We finally made it to Romans 10! This description will be short and sweet. Christ, not society or culture, is the standard of Righteousness we should all strive to obtain.  This sentiment is important for Paul as he urges the Jewish believers to trust in Christ and not the Law.  It is also important for believers in every culture across time.

Many people get turned off by Christianity because of the common notion that God sends people to hell, but is that really the case?  Is God this moral monster who throws people into the pits of fire against their will?  Or have we misunderstood this fundamental principle of eternity?  Another notion that turns people away from God is the notion that Faith requires you to abandon Logic and Reason.   Many people, believers included, have spread this narrative that Faith is believing without evidence, that's where we get the phrase "blind faith".  Paul is a perfect example of why evidence, logic, and reason and foundational to our faith and he exemplifies this in his letter to the Roman people.
