Uncensored Christian

The Law is a common subject in New Testament writings and discussion.  For the new believers, they are trying to understand the purpose of the law and how it functions under the new covenant.  While addressing the Roman believers, Paul sets forth the idea of being a slave to sin or obedience.  He illuminates an important truth that Freedom isn't defined by lack of discipline, rather it is enabled by discipline.  So the question is this... How do we obtain true freedom?

If God forgives us for our sins, what is stopping us from sinning even more?  Isn't God's grace just a free pass to do whatever I want?  These are the questions Paul is dealing with in his letter to the churches in Rome.  For these new Jesus followers,  Paul is laying the foundation upon which the Roman believers can build their faith.  Reading through Romans 6 one might ask, does water baptism bring salvation?  Let's dig in and discover how we are Dead to Sin and The Right Baptism.

Are we born sinners?  Are we born with guilt before God?  Do we really have a sinful nature?  These are questions that the Church has had traditional answers to for centuries, but have we got it wrong?  Tradition will tell you that we sinned with Adam in the Garden of Eden and therefore we incur guilt before God.   After a careful study of Romans 5, I think it is safe to say that tradition might have got it wrong...

At some point throughout your life, you will inevitably be met with this question... How do you know Christianity is true and not some other religion?  You undoubtedly will be met with another question... Why does God allow suffering?  We may be led to believe that these questions are relatively new and have not yet been thought of.  Looking at Romans 5 we learn that Paul has already been thinking about these very questions and he goes on to address them along with the churches in Rome.

Trust me it all connects!  Paul jam packs some amazing theology for us to discover in Romans chapter 4.   For the entire chapter Paul is focusing on Abraham to help the Jewish believers see how Abraham's faith relates to our faith in Jesus.  Doing this, Paul opens the door for us to discover some amazing truths about the Gospel and how we come to rational belief.

The house churches in Rome found themselves in an interesting situation.  The Gentiles lived one way while the Jews lived another.  Their disagreements give Paul no choice but to address these issues.  How should we handle disagreements within our Jesus communities?  Who's theology is correct? Most importantly, Is Faith Enough?

I'm willing to bet money that you have been told that Noah's Flood covered the entire globe! That's obviously true, right?  If you were like me I was confused and unsure what to believe when I was told that scientific evidence implies that a Global Flood was impossible.  This led me to two options, either reject the evidence or reject the bible.  What if I told you that a careful reading of Genesis 6-9 shows us how we can accept the bible and the evidence that we discover about God's world.  Is it rational to think that Noah's Flood was a localized event?

We live in the freest most prosperous generation in human history and we are still enslaved.  How can this be?  We have prioritized individual freedom to its most extreme points, and by doing this we have obtained the wrong freedom.  Culture leads us to believe that true freedom means we are to live our lives without restriction or judgement, unfortunately, we have extended these parameters to God as well.  I submit to you that we have been searching for the wrong freedom, a freedom that never sets you free. The right freedom can only be found in God's perfect moral law, and in the word become flesh Jesus Christ.

Every single human to walk this earth has lost the battle against temptation.  Temptation can be tricky.  The things that tempt us are always appealing, and it seems like it's not a big deal at the moment.  Although temptation comes in many different forms it has the ability to destroy us, and derail our walk with God.  So how are we to beat it? Is it even possible? In this scripture study, we look at the epistle of James and he clues us in on what temptation truly is and what we can do to beat it.

Is there a Book of Jacob in the bible?  Surprisingly there is!  Today we are doing a scripture study in that very book!  There are various topics that Jacob covers, with the intention of uplifting and guiding the newly found messianic Jews.  What can we learn from his teaching, and how can we live a Christ-centered life?
