July 21, 2022 Spiritual Life Class - Lesson 26 - Doing The Works Jesus Did - Luke 4:16-19 - Prog 59
The Unchanging Word Bible Broadcast continues from our last lesson.
Dr. Mitchell is speaking of the works of Christ.

He will reference Luke 4:16-19 where the Lord Jesus reveals the Old Testament’s quote about the Messiah.
In this passage, the Lord Jesus Christ is claiming to be the Messiah that He is.
Dr. Mitchell then speaks of the Apostle Paul opening blind eyes with the gospel.
This done by the Holy Spirit.
In John 16:7, Jesus speaks of the Holy Spirit’s coming into the world to convince the world of sin, righteousness and judgment which is what happens when one shares the gospel.
We will hear that the channel of the witness is limited to believers, not to angels.
Turn to Luke 4:16-19 as Dr. Mitchell teaches that, rightly understood, the believer can do what Christ did.

July 20, 2022 Spiritual Life Class - Lesson 26 - Self Control - Witnessing - Galatians 5:23 - Prog 58
We will hear Dr. Mitchell’s short prayer before
the teaching begins as this program starts.
In this lesson, Dr. Mitchell will finish up the
list of the fruit of the Spirit as found in
Galatians 5:22-23.
The one last fruit of the
Spirit is self-control.
In speaking of self-control, he begins by looking
at the Greek athlete’s stringent rules for running
a race.
He will speak of the believer’s race and
the need for self control. This is found in
1 Corinthians 9:24-27.
He goes on to the second main division concerning
the Spirit filled life, witnessing.
An evidence
of the Spirit filled life is bearing witness to
the Lord Jesus, when the Lord opens an opportunity.

Witnessing for Christ becomes evident.

Dr. Mitchell reviews how the Spirit of God has
set everyone in the body of Christ as it has
pleased Him.
Likewise, the Holy Spirit gives to
each believer a spiritual gift as He wills.
In a short overview of the 1Corinthians 12-14,
Dr. Mitchell gives us the topic of each of these
three chapters.
He then goes on to emphasize the ministry of each
gift in love.
Love is what one should pursue in
the use of their particular gifting. Love is
eternal, just like God who is love.
Dr. Mitchell shares the Bible’s truth
that as there are gifts of the Spirit, there are
gifted men as well Romans 12, Ephesians 4.

Dr. Mitchell has been speaking of the evidences
for the filling of the Spirit, he now wants to
speak for a few minutes on union with the savior.
He begins with 1 Corinthians 12:12 which speaks
of Christians as being baptized into the body of
Christ.
The Biblical term, ‘body of Christ’ refers to the
church of which Christ is the head. In this body
Christians are members one with another and each
one is a member in particular. This speaks of
the individual believer.
Now, Dr. Mitchell will bring out that each Christian
has been gifted by the Holy Spirit to serve Christ
in the body of Christ with that spiritual gift that
God has given to that person.

In Galatians 5:24, it states that
“those who belong to Christ Jesus have
crucified the flesh with it’s affections and
desires.”
Dr. Mitchell once again points out that the
word “crucified” is in the past tense. It has
been completed and there is nothing more for
the believer to do to add to it. Jesus said on
the cross, “It is finished.” John 19:30
Dr. Mitchell presents several facts, found in
the Book of Galatians, relating to what the
Christian, who is trusting in Christ, has been
delivered from.
Dr. Mitchell asks you and me, “Have you yielded
yourself to the Holy Spirit that Christ’s life
may be evident in you and me?”

After speaking of the importance and necessity of intercessory prayer to God on behalf of people, Dr. Mitchell will go on to present the need for the Christian to witness for the savior.
He emphasizes the theme of our witness as being the person and work of the Lord Jesus Christ. He must be our life and the center of our testimony for Him.
Our need to walk in the Spirit is stated in Galatians 5:15. Dr. Mitchell presents walking in the Spirit in contrast to the deeds of the flesh.
He states that, “Christianity means the end of all self effort.” The Spirit of God living in the Christian means an end to one’s self effort.

Dr. Mitchell gives us the powerful example of the disciples’ prayer for boldness in Acts 4 when confronted with opposition to their gospel witness.
We then go on to hear about the channel of the witness in Acts 13:1-4.
The channel of the witness is men filled with boldness to go or to stay.
Dr. Mitchell emphasizes the individual spiritual gifting of each believer for service in the body of Christ.

One of the evidences of the Spirit filled life is prayer.
We continue on from our previous lesson on the place of prayer in the Spirit filled believer in Christ.
In this lesson, Dr. Mitchell further speaks on the importance and necessity of prayer.
He gives the example of Jesus’ praying to His Father which was a two way fellowship the one with the other.
Dr. Mitchell says that the Spirit filled life is a life of fellowship with God, a life of union evidenced by communion with Him.
In this day of mass communication there are still those who still have yet to hear the gospel of the grace of God.
Jesus asks His disciples to pray to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest. Will you do that?
